Semi‐analytical solution for the stability of deep vertical shaft considering time‐dependent rock‐structure interaction

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A novel cavity contraction solution and multilayer shaft wall model were developed to analyze deep shaft stability, considering rock viscosity, support structures, and water pressure, with successful validation through a Hulusu Coal Mine case study.

A Cross-Scale Study of Data-Driven Micro-to-Macro Mechanical Heterogeneity in Sandstone

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Tight sandstone gas development is largely governed by mineral composition and micromechanical heterogeneity. This study proposes a cross-scale method integrating these two factors to characterize macroscopic sandstone heterogeneity.

Microwave amplification with nanomechanical resonators

open access: yes, 2011
Sensitive measurement of electrical signals is at the heart of modern science and technology. According to quantum mechanics, any detector or amplifier is required to add a certain amount of noise to the signal, equaling at best the energy of quantum ...

Research progress and current status of dynamic wave propagation characteristics in rock mass: A review

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This review elucidates the velocity–dispersion–attenuation coupling mechanisms of wave propagation in rock masses, compares six representative models, and reveals how pressure, temperature, mineral composition, and anisotropy jointly control dynamic responses in complex geological media.

Characterization of the mechanical properties of the mouse Achilles tendon enthesis by microindentation. Effects of unloading and subsequent reloading

open access: yesBone Reports
The fibrocartilaginous tendon enthesis, i.e. the site where a tendon is attached to bone through a fibrocartilaginous tissue, is considered as a functionally graded interface.

Prediction of the longitudinal tensile strength of polymer matrix composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A micromechanical model was developed for the prediction of the longitudinal tensile strength of polymer matrix composites. The model considers successive fibre breaks within an infinitely wide Li-long representative volume element (RVE), Li being the

Coherence‐Gated Mirau Interferometry for Single‐Shot Quantitative Phase Imaging and Motion Sensing

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This paper presents a compact add‐on module converting a Mirau or other on‐axis interferometer into a single‐shot quantitative phase imaging system using coherence gating and precise optical path matching. Demonstrations include time‐resolved imaging of human cells and streaming red blood cells, visualization of evaporation dynamics in liquid mixtures,

A micromechanical model for light-interactive molecular crystals

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids
Molecular crystals respond to a light stimulus by bending, twisting, rolling, jumping, or other kinematic behaviors. These behaviors are known to be affected by, among others, the intensity of the incident light, the aspect ratios of crystal geometries, and the volume changes accompanying phase transformation. While these factors, individually, explain
