Design and simulation of zipping variable capacitors
Variable capacitors are essential for building tunable RF systems. We present here the design and simulation of novel zipping variable capacitors with a high permittivity dielectric layer. Two modelling techniques are presented: finite element simulation

Simplified composite micromechanics equations for hygral, thermal and mechanical properties [PDF]
A unified set of composite micromechanics equations of simple form is summarized and described. This unified set can be used to predict unidirectional composite (ply) geometric, mechanical, thermal and hygral properties using constituent material (fiber ...

Polarized microscopic images of the outer bone cortex (a and b) and deeper trabecular bone (c and d) of the deer calcaneus in thin cross‐sections. The brighter gray levels reflect more oblique‐to‐transverse collagen fibers in the compression/dorsal bone (a, c) and the darker gray levels reflect more longitudinal collagen in the tension/plantar bone (b,

Micromechanisms and micromechanics of Zircaloy-4
The micromechanisms of Zircaloy-4 are investigated in relation to texture evolution, hydride formation and fatigue. The Zircaloy-4 plate used throughout this thesis was provided by Rolls- Royce plc, Derby, and was annealed post unidirectional rolling.
