Nanosecond, Nanometer Movies of MEMS/NEMS Dynamics in a Standard SEM Using Time‐Tagged Secondary Electrons

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
For the observation of micromechanical devices, a fast imaging technique with high temporal resolution is needed. Here, we demonstrate that a standard scanning electron microscope can be converted into a time‐resolving instrument using a fast detector and a time‐to‐digital converter.

Progress in bone tissue engineering biomaterials: Development, challenges, and prospects

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Scheme 1 Application of biomaterials in immunomodulation during bone tissue engineering. Abstract Bone defect repair remains a major clinical challenge in orthopedics. Over 2 million cases caused by trauma, tumors, and other factors occur annually, with large‐scale defects posing a particular bottleneck due to limited self‐healing capacity.

Bond strength enhancement for additively manufactured zirconia: Micro‐retentive design approach

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To investigate the effect of digitally designed micro‐retention features on the bond strength of additively manufactured (AM) zirconia copings. Materials and Methods Sixty titanium base abutments (NobelParallel, NobelBiocare), pretreated with 50 µm alumina particles were divided into four groups (n = 15 per group); one group with ...

Deep Material Networks Versus Reduced Order Models: A Comparative Study for Multiscale Component Simulations

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Deep material networks (DMNs) and reduced order models (ROMs) represent two distinct paradigms for scale bridging in multiscale simulations. ROMs are data‐driven approaches that construct surrogate models for the governing partial differential equations of the microscale cell problem.

Upcycling Automotive Recyclate and Miscanthus Derived‐Biocarbon for Sustainable Composite in Automotive Applications

open access: yesApplied Research, Volume 5, Issue 5, October 2026.
Melt compounding of automotive recycled polypropylene, Miscanthus‐derived biocarbon, ethylene‐1‐octene, and a compatibilizer into pellets, which are injection molded into compatibilized composites exhibiting improved mechanical properties and enhanced fiber–matrix adhesion as confirmed by SEM microstructural analysis.

Eutectic Topology Regulates Deformation Pathways Enabling Synergistic Superelasticity and Strength in EBF3‐Fabricated NiTiNb Alloys

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The deformation behavior of NiTiNb shape memory alloys is governed by microstructural heterogeneity, specifically the interconnected topology of the β‐Nb phase. The regulatory role of the eutectic structure in load partitioning and the evolution of deformation mechanisms, particularly in high‐Nb systems, has not been clearly understood.

A micromechanics finite-strain constitutive model of fibrous tissue

open access: yes, 2011
Biological tissues have unique mechanical properties due to the wavy fibrous collagen and elastin microstructure. In inflation, a vessel easily distends under low pressure but becomes stiffer when the fibers are straightened to take up the load.
