The electrostatic ultrasonic micromotor
Proceedings of International Solid State Sensors and Actuators Conference (Transducers '97), 2002A new ultrasonic micromotor has been designed, consisting of a silicon membrane, excited by means of electrostatic forces to generate a travelling flexural wave. A rotor, placed atop the membrane, is propelled by this wave through frictional forces. This motor presents an advantageous alternative to more conventional micromotors: no need to realise ...

Applied Physics Letters, 2000
An optical spin micromotor operated by optical tweezers, described in the present study, converts radiant energy directly to mechanical energy. This conversion is of great practical and fundamental interest. The optical spin micromotor consists of a two-bead linkage.

Rotor for a brushless micromotor
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2002Abstract Synchronous planar micromotors are studied at LEG, with diameters ranging from φ 3 to φ 8 mm. They combine state-of-the-art collective means of fabrication with watch industry techniques. This paper describes the design, simulation, fabrication and magnetisation of disc-shaped SmCo rotors with several axial pairs of poles.

Acoustic microsensors and micromotors
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1990The presentation will focus on four applications of the use of waves in thin membranes: (1) physical sensing of various parameters (e.g., viscosity, differential pressure); (2) nonspecific gravimetric sensing (e.g., liquid density, chemical vapor sensing with polymers, cell, or bacterial cultures); (3) ligand-based gravimetric sensing (e.g., antibody ...
