Assessment of Active Vertical Carbon Transport: New Methodology
Estimating active carbon transport in aquatic ecosystems has proven to be a labor-intensive and time-consuming process. This study proposes a novel approach to assess active carbon transport of zooplankton and micronekton based on the biomass spectra ...

Modeling marine zooplankton and micronekton

Diurnal variations and geographic distribution of zooplankton and micronekton are studied in the Angola Dome. The small zooplankton species (Copepodids, Copepods, Amphipods, Ostracods, Chaetognaths, etc.) undertake vertical migrations within a 100 m ...

Micronekton diel vertical migration and active flux in the subtropical Northeast Atlantic
Programa de doctorado: OceanografíaDiel Vertical Migration (DVM) is the most important synchronized animal movement in the ocean, and probably represents the largest migration on the planet in terms of biomass. The most extensive vertical displacements

Spotlight 5: Great Meteor Seamount [PDF]
Great Meteor Seamount is one of the largest seamounts in the Atlantic Ocean, rising from 4200-m depth at the seafloor to 270-m depth beneath the sea surface. Its elliptical plateau encompasses an area of 1500 km2, roughly matching the size of the Spanish

Micronekton indicators evolution based on biophysically defined provinces
Abstract. Micronekton are mid-trophic marine organisms characterized by a size range of 2 to 20 cm, gathering a wide diversity of taxa (crustaceans, fish, molluscs, etc.). They are responsible for an important active carbon export to the deep ocean because of their diel vertical migrations and constitute the main prey for pelagic predators.
