Microplastic Analysis in Mackarel Tuna and Milkfish at Selili Fish Landing Site, East Kalimantan

open access: yesGrouper
Microplastic pollution in coastal waters poses a serious threat to marine ecosystem sustainability and food safety. However, data on microplastic contamination in edible fish from the Selili Fish Landing Station (PPI Selili), Samarinda, remains limited ...

The Plant‐to‐Plant Circular Strategy: Coupling Photodegradation and Phytoremediation With Plant‐Based Nanomaterials for Plastic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.

Sand bed river dynamics controlling microplastic flux

open access: yesScientific Reports
Microplastic contamination of river sediments has been found to be pervasive at the global scale and responsive to plastic and sediment bed properties, the flow regime and the river morphology.

Deep‐Learning‐Driven High‐Fidelity In Vivo Hyperspectral Fluorescence Imaging Under Extreme Photon‐Limited Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Highly overlapping fluorescent signals become distinguishable in photon‐limited living organisms via advanced imaging with intelligent reconstruction. The resulting in vivo hyperspectral imaging capability reveals nanoplastic uptake and circulation in live zebrafish, providing a new approach for studying complex biological and environmental processes ...

Microplastic contamination in market bivalve Argopecten purpuratus from Lima, Peru

open access: yesManglar, 2019
Microplastics (< 5 mm) are ubiquitous contaminants in the marine environment. Many marine commercial species, among fish, mollusks and crustaceans, are subject to microplastic exposure through ingestion.

Multi‐Scale Bionic Structure Constructs Biomass Flame‐Retardant Thermal Insulation Foam Material

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by mussel adhesion and hierarchical brick‐and‐mortar architectures, a cellulose‐based biomimetic foam is constructed by anchoring bentonite nanosheets onto a polydopamine‐decorated cellulose nanofiber network. The resulting foam combines low thermal conductivity with intrinsic flame retardancy and full biodegradability, presenting a ...

Microplastic abundance and its relationship with sediment grain size in seagrass and bare flats of Panjang Island, Banten Bay, Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Microplastic accumulation in sediment is influenced by the grain size of sediment. Panjang Island, located in Banten Bay, has the potential to accumulate microplastics from bay-wide transport and local anthropogenic sources.

Deep Learning‐Driven Discovery and Engineering of an Efficient PETase for Depolymerization and Detoxification of PET Microplastics Under Physiological Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A deep learning–driven pipeline mining 246 million protein sequences uncovers AhPETase, an evolutionarily distinct PET hydrolase. Engineered variant AhPETaseM1 degrades post‐consumer PET microplastics under physiological conditions and reverses microplasticinduced cytotoxicity in human lung and colon cells, establishing enzymatic microplastic ...
