Theory of anisotropic micropolar fluids
International Journal of Engineering Science, 1980Abstract A continuum theory of anisotropic fluids is introduced. Balance laws are based on the micropolar continuum mechanics. Properly invariant constitutive equations are established and restricted by the second law of thermodynamics. The field equations are solved for the shear flow of rod-like suspensions in viscous fluids.

Cell models for micropolar fluid past a porous micropolar fluid sphere with stress jump condition
Physics of Fluids, 2022The axisymmetric creeping flow of micropolar fluid past a porous surface saturated with micropolar fluid is investigated analytically. A sphere's surface is assumed to have adequate boundary conditions, but the appropriate boundary conditions applied to its fictitious envelope differ based on the type of cell model used.

Stability of micropolar fluid motions
International Journal of Engineering Science, 1970The paper employs the energy method for obtaining criteria for the stability of the motion of an incompressible micropolar fluid in an arbitrary domain. A formula is obtained for the time-rate of change of the kinetic energy of the difference of two flows and it is shown that the original flow is stable when Re + 0.5Rm < 80 and Rm < 2m2 + 6π2m9.

Stokes Flow of Viscous Fluid Past a Micropolar Fluid Spheroid
Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2017AbstractThe Stokes axisymmetric flow of an incompressible viscous fluid past a micropolar fluid spheroid whose shape deviates slightly from that of a sphere is studied analytically. The boundary conditions used are the vanishing of the normal velocities, the continuity of the tangential velocities, continuity of shear stresses and spin-vorticity ...

Stokes' first problem for micropolar fluids
Fluid Dynamics Research, 2009The flow induced in a quiescent micropolar fluid by a doubly infinite plate accelerated suddenly from rest to a constant velocity is investigated in the present paper. The local balance equations according to Eringen's model are non-dimensionalized and solved in the Laplace transform domain.

Some Properties of Micropolar Fluid Flows
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 1973The kinetic properties of potential flow and slow motions are investigated, by considering the motion of a steady, inviscid, and incompressible micropolar fluid of constant gyration parameter in the absence of body forces and body couples. The interesting feature of the present investigation can be ascribed to the harmonic character of Bernoulli ...

Initiation of Instability in Micropolar Fluids
The Physics of Fluids, 1971The classical theory of fluid stability as applied to micropolar fluids is used to study, in a few limiting cases, the delayed initiation of instability due to the presence of particles in the fluid.
