A Microprocessor Protection Architecture against Hardware Trojans in Memories
2020 15th Design & Technology of Integrated Systems in Nanoscale Era (DTIS), 2020Software exploitable Hardware Trojan Horses (HWTs) have been currently inserted in commercial CPUs and, very recently, in memories. Such attacks may allow malicious users to run their own software or to gain unauthorized privileges over the system. Therefore, HWTs are nowadays considered a serious threat both from academy and industry.

Microprocessor-based protection scheme for power transformers
Proceedings:Electrical Electronics Insulation Conference and Electrical Manufacturing & Coil Winding Conference, 2002This paper presents a microprocessor based relay scheme for differential protection of large power transformers. This scheme provides protection against internal faults on transformers, and restrains the tripping operation during the inrush condition by detecting the second harmonic component in the current. The functions of various blocks of the relay

Microprocessor-based relay for protecting power transformers
IEE Proceedings C Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1990The paper describes the design, implementation and testing of a microprocessor-based relay for protecting single-phase and three-phase transformers. The relay implements algorithms that use nonlinear models of transformers to detect winding faults. The algorithms, hardware and software are also briefly described.

Reliability of a Microprocessor-Based Protection Switching System
Bell System Technical Journal, 1978High-capacity transmission systems usually include one or more hot spares for protection. When a regular transmission channel fails, its signal is rapidly transferred to the spare channel under the control of protection switching circuits so that there is little signal degradation or interruption.

Microprocessor-based cathodic protection system using photovoltaic energy
Applied Energy, 1995Abstract Cathodic protection (CP) is a means of rendering a metal immune from corrosive attack by utilizing an external direct current to oppose the discharge of corrosion current from the anodic areas of the metallic structure. The variation of the surrounding medium's resistivity due to changes in climatic conditions makes it difficult to stop the ...

Microprocessor-Aided Instruction in Power-System Protection
IEEE Transactions on Education, 1981Supplementary use of microprocessors in electrical engineering education can provide an effective learning environment for introductory as well as advanced studies. In addition, sufficient exposure to microcomputers as a design and analysis tool is consistent with the ever expanding industria applications of these devices.

Cross-referenced ESD protection for power supplies [microprocessors]
Electrical Overstress/ Electrostatic Discharge Symposium Proceedings. 1998 (Cat. No.98TH8347), 2002We demonstrate a novel method for protection of the power supplies on a low-power microprocessor. The protection method splits the I/O supply bus into two segments, relying on the voltage difference between the supplies to distinguish between an ESD event and normal operation.
