Optimization of a reactor for biostimulant production with emphasis on the economic aspects of hydrolysis

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Biostimulants are increasingly used in agriculture to promote plant growth, improve stress tolerance, and support sustainable farming practices. One common method of production is chemical hydrolysis of protein‐rich waste, such as tannery by‐products, offering an economical and eco‐friendly alternative to conventional raw materials.

RELIABILITY OF MICROPROCESSOR-BASED PROTECTIVE DEVICES – REVISITED

open access: yesElectrical Engineering and Power Engineering, 2011
The article is a continuation of a set of the author’s previous publications about the reliability of the microprocessorbased protective devices. The statistical data introduced by the author coincide with data of other authors and confirm higher reliability of electromechanical relays in comparison with microprocessor-based.

Architecture for Protecting Critical Secrets in Microprocessors [PDF]

open access: yes32nd International Symposium on Computer Architecture (ISCA'05), 2005
We propose “secret-protected (SP)” architecture to enable secure and convenient protection of critical secrets for a given user in an on-line environment. Keys are examples of critical secrets, and key protection and management is a fundamental problem - often assumed but not solved - underlying the use of cryptographic protection of sensitive files ...

Heat Transfer Performance of Biphilic Surfaces With Diatomite‐Based Composite Coatings in a Closed Thermosyphon System

open access: yesHeat Transfer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the thermal performance of innovative biphilic boiling surfaces designed for CPU cooling applications using a two‐phase closed thermosyphon (TPCT) system. The surfaces were fabricated by applying composite coatings—comprising epoxy resin and diatomite particles functionalized with APTES and PFOTS silanes— onto Al1050 ...

Development and Preliminary Evaluation of a Machine Vision‐Guided Smart Sprayer Prototype Toward Precision Vegetable Weeding

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainable weed management necessitates herbicide‐reduced, precision weed control. Recent advancements in machine vision and artificial intelligence (AI) for weed recognition and localization have created new opportunities for high‐precision weeding. Although blanket spraying systems are widely used for weed removal, machine vision‐guided, AI‐

An autonomous network of acoustic detectors to map tiger risk by eavesdropping on prey alarm calls

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Tiger population recovery brings with it increased fatalities from human‐tiger conflict. We describe a network of autonomous intelligent passive acoustic sensors that monitor the forest for deer alarm calls as a proxy for tiger risk and provide a risk map to local communities in real‐time.

Pickin' up good vibrations: a systematic review of footfall detection and analysis in the realm of wildlife surveying

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Exploration of new wildlife surveying methodologies that leverage advances in sensor technology and machine learning has led to tentative research into the application of seismology techniques. This, most commonly, involves the deployment of a footfall trap – a seismic sensor and data logger customised for wildlife footfall.
