A Double-Strand Elastic Rod Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
.: Motivated by applications in the modeling of deformations of the DNA double helix, we construct a continuum mechanics model of two elastically interacting elastic strands.

Two‐Phase Nanofluid Flow in a Non‐Newtonian Model Past a Deformable Sheet With Magnetized Environmental Effects: Statistical Modeling and ANOVA Analysis

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a comprehensive numerical analysis of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Casson nanofluid movement over a permeable, linearly stretching sheet, integrating the contributions of non‐uniform heat generation or absorption and chemical interaction.

Apparent Strain Localization and Shear Wave Dispersion in Elastic Fault Gouge with Microrotations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Shear deformation of fault gouge or other particulate materials often results in observed strain localization, or more precisely, the localization of measured deformation gradients. In conventional elastic materials the strain localization cannot take place therefore this phenomenon is attributed to special types of non-elastic constitutive behaviour ...

Anticlastic Curvature and Material Freedom

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
Anticlastic curvature occurs in bent bars for positive Poisson's ratio; synclastic curvature occurs for negative Poisson's ratio provided the material is homogeneous and elastic. Some planar negative Poisson's ratio materials exhibit anticlastic saddle curvature rather than convex curvature in bending due to effects of 3D structure.

Oscillatory dissipative conjugate heat and mass transfer in chemically-reacting micropolar flow with wall couple stress : a finite element numerical study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
High temperature non-Newtonian materials processing provides a stimulating area for process engineering simulation. Motivated by emerging applications in this area, the present article investigates the time-dependent free convective flow of a chemically ...

Algebraic Multigrid Based Preconditioning Approaches for Generalized Continuum Models and Indirect Displacement Control Techniques

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 6, 30 March 2026.
ABSTRACT The contribution deals with algebraic multigrid (AMG) based preconditioning methods for the iterative solution of a coupled linear system of equations arising in numerical simulations of failure of quasi‐brittle materials using generalized continuum approaches.

MHD THREE-DIMENSIONAL STAGNATION-POINT FLOW OF A MICROPOLAR FLUID [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The steady three-dimensional stagnation-point flow of an electrically conducting micropolar fluid in the absence and in the presence of a uniform external electromagnetic field (E0,H0) is analyzed and some physical situations are examined. In particular,

Hydromagnetic flow and heat transfer adjacent to a stretching vertical sheet in a micropolar fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An analysis is carried out for the steady two-dimensional mixed convection flow adjacent to a stretching vertical sheet immersed in an incompressible electrically conducting micropolar fluid.

Numerical and Analytical Study of Elastic Parameters in Linearized Micropolar Elasticity

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The effect of elastic parameters in the linearized theory of micropolar elasticity on observable deformation is analyzed analytically and numerically. Specifically, a shear deformation boundary value problem is studied to explore the physical implications of a micropolar formulation. Our new analytical solution for the two‐dimensional shearing

Micropolar fluid flow through a stenosed bifurcated artery

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2017
The aim of this article is to investigate the blood flow in bifurcated artery with mild stenosis taking blood as a micropolar fluid. The arteries, forming bifurcation are taken to be symmetric and straight cylinders of finite length.
