Analysis of microring filter with two embedded microring

Optik, 2013
Abstract In this paper, a microring resonator with two embedded microring (MRTEM) has been presented and studied theoretically. Transfer matrix method (TMM) has been used to simulate MRTEM and analyze the relations between add/drop spectrum and embedded microring arrangements.

Compact bandwidth-tunable microring resonators

Optics Letters, 2007
Using interferometric couplers and thermal tuning, we demonstrate a novel design of compact microring resonators on silicon-on-insulator platform with tunable bandwidth from 0.1 to 0.7 nm. The structures present an extinction ratio higher than 23 dB and a footprint of less than 0.001 mm(2), which are suitable for integrated optical signal processing ...

Silicon microring resonators

Journal of Optics, 2018
Silicon microring resonators (MRRs) are very popular for many applications because of the advantages of footprint compactness, easy scalability, and functional versatility. Ultra-compact silicon MRRs with box-like spectral responses are realized with a very large free-spectral range (FSR) by introducing bent directional couplers.

Microring Weight Banks

IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 2016
Microring weight banks could enable novel signal processing approaches in silicon photonics. We analyze factors limiting channel count in microring weight banks, which are central to analog wavelength-division multiplexed processing networks in silicon.

Silicon microring filters

2008 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2008
Detailed performance of silicon microring filters is analyzed, including amplitude, phase, bandwidth and free spectral range. With experiments and simulations, we show that unavoidable trade-off must be taken among these parameters.

Adiabatic microring resonators

Optics Letters, 2010
A class of whispering-gallery-mode resonators, herein referred to as adiabatic microring resonators, is proposed and numerically demonstrated. Adiabatic microrings enable electrical and mechanical contact to be made to the resonator without inducing radiation, while supporting only a single radial mode and therein achieving an uncorrupted free spectral

Perforated microring resonators

2016 International Conference Laser Optics (LO), 2016
We propose a novel approach to control mode structure of microring resonators using subwavelength hollow core defects. Their influence on mode structure was studied computationally and experimentally.

Crossing Microring Resonator

2011 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics (SOPO), 2011
The crossing coupler is introduced to form a microring resonator. The coupling coefficient of the crossing can affect the resonance spectrum significantly based on the model of the coupled mode theory.

Power insensitive silicon microring resonators

Optics Letters, 2012
We demonstrate power insensitive silicon microring resonators without the need for active feedback control. The passive control of the resonance is achieved by utilizing the compensation of two counteracting processes, free carrier dispersion blueshift and thermo-optic redshift.
