Dispersive tristability in microring resonators

Physical Review E, 2005
Combining a transfer matrix analysis and slowly varying envelope approximation, we propose a simple method to describe steady states associated with dispersive multistability in coupled microring resonators. This approach allows us to consider nonlinear interactions between independent forward and backward propagative fields.

Parity-time–symmetric microring lasers

Science, 2014
The ability to control the modes oscillating within a laser resonator is of fundamental importance. In general, the presence of competing modes can be detrimental to beam quality and spectral purity, thus leading to spatial as well as temporal fluctuations in the emitted radiation.

Hollow nanotubular toroidal polymer microrings

Nature Chemistry, 2014
Despite the remarkable progress made in the self-assembly of nano- and microscale architectures with well-defined sizes and shapes, a self-organization-based synthesis of hollow toroids has, so far, proved to be elusive. Here, we report the synthesis of polymer microrings made from rectangular, flat and rigid-core monomers with anisotropically ...

Polymer microdisk and microring lasers

Optics Letters, 1995
Dye-doped polymer microlasers have been fabricated by photolithography and self-assembly. Microdisk lasers 5 to 30 microm in diameter were photolithographically patterned on thin planar polymer waveguides. We formed polymer microring lasers on thinned silica fibers by dipping the fibers in polymers and allowing the polymer droplets to cure.

Microring resonator devices

2007 Asia Optical Fiber Communication and Optoelectronics Conference, 2007
In this review, the fundamental characteristics of microring resonator filters using high index contrast (HIC) optical waveguides are introduced, and the recent progress in the hitless wavelength selective switch achieved by the author's group is mainly described.

Proposal of All-Optical Active Microring Logic Gate for Microring Processor

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2012
We propose and analyze all-optical active microring logic gates for a microring processor that has various integrated all-optical signal processing functions. The active microring logic gate is composed of an InGaAsP/InP multiple quantum well and is operated on the basis of cross gain modulation (XGM) and cross phase modulation (XPM).

PT-symmetric microring lasers

Frontiers in Optics 2014, 2014
We show that a multimode laser cavity when accompanied by an identical but lossy partner can lase at a single longitudinal mode. Our experimental results demonstrate this mode-selective effect in parity-time (PT) symmetric micro-rings lasers.

Fabrication of an Optoelectrochemical Microring Array

Analytical Chemistry, 2002
In this paper, we describe a novel approach for fabricating an optoelectrochemical microring array. The array was fabricated by coating individual optical fibers of 25-microm diameter with a 1-microm layer of gold nanoparticles via electroless gold deposition.

Athermal silicon microring electro-optic modulator

Optics Letters, 2012
We demonstrate a new class of passively temperature stabilized resonant silicon electro-optic modulators. The modulators consist of a ring resonator coupled to a Mach-Zehnder interferometer with tailored thermal properties. We demonstrate 2 GHz continuous modulation over a temperature range of 35 °C and describe the scalability and design rules for ...

Compact microring notch filters

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2000
Microresonator filters reported so far have been all-pole-type filters. We report two experimental realizations of zero-type (notch) filters using GaAs-AlGaAs microring resonators. The first is a ring coupled to one side of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer, the Y-branch of which has an effective splitting angle of 50/spl deg/ with 0.5-dB loss.
