Model arenes hydrogenation with silica-supported rhodium nanoparticles:The role of the silica grains and of the solvent on catalytic activities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Silica-supported rhodium-based nanoheterogeneous catalysts were easily prepared by impregnation with a pre-stabilized colloidal suspension. The resulting catalysts contain rhodium nanoparticles well-dispersed in the silica pores with a mean size of 5 nm.

Fine Tuning of Surface Structures by Soft‐Template Electropolymerization

open access: yesChemNanoMat, Volume 11, Issue 11, November 2025.
Nanotubes are formed by soft‐template electropolymerization in solvent of low water‐solubility but especially using one of the two tested stereoisomers of benzodithiophene and using an interfacially more active electrolyte with long alkyl chains (tetrahexylammonium perchlorate).

Decay stages of Jurassic wood debris from Scotland: evidence for the coevolution of fungal rot, arthropods and the nurse log strategy

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 248, Issue 3, Page 1557-1571, November 2025.
Summary A key feature of extant conifer forests is the high percentage of seeds that germinate and establish on dead wood; in some forests, this can exceed 90%. This deadwood can act as an ideal nursery for young tree species, leading to this type of seedbed being termed ‘nurse logs’.

Mechanical and tribological properties of Fe/Cr-FeAl2O4-Al2O3 nano/micro hybrid composites prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Fe/Cr–Al2O3 nanocomposite powders are prepared by H2 selective reduction of oxide solid solutions. These powders, an alumina powder and a starting oxide powder, are sintered by spark plasma sintering.

Evaluation of canine epidermis and keratinocytoids (keratinocytic organoids) by transmission electron microscopy

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 36, Issue 5, Page 696-702, October 2025.
Background – Skin disease is a common complaint in veterinary medicine. Current models often use live animals. Epidermal organoids (keratinocytoids) are 3D miniature organs created in culture from single epidermal keratinocytes. These keratinocytoids can be used as an alternative to live animal studies to investigate epidermal structures and skin ...

Sustainable two‐step functionalization of carbon fibers (CFs) with polyethyleneimine and investigation of curing kinetics in composite materials

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 46, Issue 13, Page 11965-11983, 10 September 2025.
We followed the functionalization steps outlined in the figure to obtain carbon fibers (CFs) functionalized with branched polyethyleneimine (b‐PEI). The entire process was carried out under mild conditions, including plasma activation and low‐temperature heating, using an eco‐friendly solvent (water).

Comparative study of the catalytic growth of patterned carbon nanotube films

open access: yes, 2001
Three different catalysts (Fe, Ni, Co nitrates dissolved in ethanol) were patterned on a SiO2/Si substrate and multi-wall carbon nanotubes were grown by catalytic decomposition of acetylene.
