Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Image scanning microscopy with quadrant detectors
There is growing interest in techniques based on using detector arrays in confocal microscopy [1]. Many different implementations have been proposed, and various different names given to these techniques, one such name being image scanning microscopy ...

Light sheet adaptive optics microscope for 3D live imaging [PDF]
Optical microscopy is still the main research tool for many biological studies. Indeed with the advent of genetic manipulation and specifically, the use of fluorescent protein expressing in animals and plants it has actually seen a renaissance in the ...

We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,

Intravital Multiphoton Microscopy Analysis of Spatial Relationships in Murine Skull Bone Marrow [PDF]
The BM is a key organ of hematopoiesis and also has an important role in the immune system. The BM microenvironment is a complex, highly vascularized 3D structure composed of different cell types and extracellular matrix.

Methodology for reconstructing early zebrafish development from in vivo multiphoton microscopy
Investigating cell dynamics during early zebrafish embryogenesis requires specific image acquisition and analysis strategies. Multiharmonic microscopy, i.e., second- and third-harmonic generations, allows imaging cell divisions and cell membranes in ...
