This study investigates the impact of Ce and/or Mg on the electrical conductivity (EC) and mechanical properties of AlSi3 cast alloy. It highlights the synergistic effects of Ce and Mg on eutectic Si modification and Mg solute reduction in the Al matrix, resulting in the optimization of EC, strength, and ductility of the alloy.

Spatial heterodyne scanning laser confocal holographic microscopy [PDF]
Scanning laser confocal holographic microscopy using a spatial heterodyne detection method is presented. Spatial heterodyne detection technique employs a Mach-Zehnder interferometer with the reference beam frequency shifted by two acousto-optic modulators (AOM) relative to the object beam frequency.

This article investigates optimal processing conditions for the laser‐based powder bed fusion of WE43. To limit the interaction with remaining oxygen, a 3 vol% hydrogen admixture to the inert gas is investigated. Furthermore, heat treatments are investigated in the range of 250–350 °C for 48 h.

Laser powder‐bed fusion (L‐PBF) can produce dense WE43 magnesium alloy parts, but their mechanical properties are limited by a nonhomogeneous microstructure. This study investigates the effects of varying direct aging (T5) and artificial age‐hardening (T6) conditions on microstructure and strength. Optimized T6 treatment significantly improves strength

Quadratic response theory for the interaction of charged particles with an electron gas [PDF]
A survey is presented of the theoretical status of quadratic response theories for the understanding of nonlinear aspects in the interaction of charged particles with matter. In the frame of the many-body perturbation theory we study the interaction of charged particles with the electron gas, within the random-phase approximation (RPA).

Direct Consolidation of Copper–Graphene Composite by Rotary Swaging
The applicability of the rotary swaging method for preparation of electroconductive copper–graphene composite by direct consolidation of powders is proven. The consolidated material features advantageous microstructure featuring fine grains and twins, with homogeneous distribution of graphene, primarily along the twin boundaries, which contribute to ...

Challenges and perspectives in using multimodal imaging techniques to advance the understanding of fish intestinal microvilli [PDF]
The primary function of intestinal microvilli is to increase the surface area of the intestinal lining to maximize nutrient absorption. Despite its importance to the fish health, the small size and dense footprint of microvilli hinders its investigation and necessitates the need of advanced microscopy methods for its visualization.

A Study on Thermal Expansion and Thermomechanical Behavior of Composite Metal Foams
The coefficient of thermal expansion of steel–steel composite metal foam (S‐S CMF) is shown to be lower than that of bulk stainless steel while its performance under compression demonstrate excellent mechanical stability and strength at all temperatures with gradualsoftening from 400 to 600 °C.
