Microseismic monitoring — Introduction

GEOPHYSICS, 2015
Most papers the readers find in this special section were presented at the First International Workshop on Microseismic Technology held in Asheville, North Carolina, USA, on 17–22 August 2014. The workshop’s organizing and technical program committee consisted of Werner Heigl (Apache Corporation), Vladimir Grechka (Marathon Oil), Leo Eisner (IRSM ...

Microseismic Monitoring Of Engineering Structures

2nd EEGS Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems, 1989
The monitoring of microseismic activity/acoustic emissions in engineering structures allows the detection and location of preliminary instabilities that always precede a structural failure. The primary advantage of this approach is that it can be used on operational structures and provide early warning of impending failure.

Excavation-induced microseismicity: microseismic monitoring and numerical simulation

Journal of Zhejiang University SCIENCE A, 2012
The volume of influence of excavation at the right bank slope of Dagangshan Hydropower Station, southwest China, is essentially determined from microseismic monitoring, numerical modeling and conventional measurements as well as in situ observations. Microseismic monitoring is a new application technique for investigating microcrackings in rock slopes.
