Whispering gallery mode microsphere resonator with microsphere-microsphere coupling
Optical Fiber Technology, 2018Abstract We demonstrate a new type of whispering gallery mode microsphere resonator with microsphere-microsphere coupling. The device is based on two cascaded microspheres glued on a single mode fiber tip. The incident light from the fiber core diverges in the first microsphere and part of light is coupled to the surface of the second microsphere ...

Microspheres for biomedical applications: preparation of reactive and labelled microspheres
Biomaterials, 1993This review describes the synthesis and physico-chemical properties of reactive and labelled microspheres useful for biomedical applications. Preparation of microspheres with specific functional groups, fluorescent species, radionuclides and magnetite particles (Fe2O3) are discussed. Physico-chemical properties of microspheres, including surface charge

Electrorotation of Metallic Microspheres
Langmuir, 2011Electrorotation (ER) experiments of gold-coated micrometer-sized spheres suspended in an electrolyte are presented for three different ionic conductivities over the frequency range of 100 Hz to 40 MHz. The direction of rotation was observed to be counter-field (opposite to the rotating field vector) with a single rotation peak.

We report experimental results obtained in our laboratories in the development of Er3+- doped glass microspherical cavities for the fabrication of compact and low threshold laser sources at 1.55 μm. We investigate three different approaches in order to fabricate the microspheres including direct melting of Er3+-doped glass powders, coating of silica ...

Norethisterone contraceptive microspheres
Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1987Two formulations of polylactic and polyglycolic acid microcapsules containing 75 and 100 mg of NET respectively were studied for a 90-day period of anticipated contraceptive effect in two groups of five women. A 200 mg dose of NET preparation was also studied for a 180-day period of anticipated contraceptive effect in 19 women.

Compartmentalization in proteinoid microspheres
Biosystems, 1977Proteinoid microspheres with stable internal compartments and internal structure are made from acidic proteinoid and basic proteinoid with calcium. The populations of microspheres are characterized by a wide diversity of structure. A model of primitive intracellular communication is suggested by the observed movement of internal particles between ...
