Analysis of Trickle and Pulse Microsprinkler Irrigation of Processing Apples

International Journal of Fruit Science, 1999
Abstract This study examined the effects of wetted area size on yield and growth of ‘Golden Delicious’ apples for processing by comparing a trickle irrigation system with a pulse microsprinkler system, each receiving the same level of water application.

Using microsprinkler irrigation to reduce leaching in a shrink/swell clay soil

Agricultural Water Management, 2002
Abstract Preferential flow allows agricultural chemicals to rapidly move past crop root zone to subsoil, potentially contaminating groundwater. Deep shrinkage cracks in a shrink/swell soil may serve as preferential flow channels. Design and operation of an irrigation system is critical in shrink/swell soils in order to reduce or eliminate ...

MICROSPRINKLER IRRIGATION FOR FROST PROTECTION OF CITRUS IN FLORIDA

Acta Horticulturae, 2015
In 1979, it was not known if microsprinkler irrigation could provide any frost protection for citrus, and some assumed that this irrigation method would not. Tests during freezes between 1980 and 2010 showed that microsprinklers were effective in protecting the lower 0.9 m of young citrus trees, thereby saving the bud union and allowing later regrowth.

Statistical quality control for the evaluation of the uniformity of microsprinkler irrigation with photovoltaic solar energy

Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2017
Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate a microsprinkler irrigation system with water pumping by photovoltaic system, through uniformity coefficients and the total energy produced (W h) by the system using the statistical quality control, comparing the Shewhart control charts, Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) and Cumulative ...

Optimization of Irrigation for Potato with Microsprinkler Irrigation System

Journal of Agricultural Engineering (India), 2008
Water application for agriculture in semi-arid areas should be limited because of scare resources. An effort was made at Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology, Abohar to determine the optimal water allocation to potato crop with micro sprinkler irrigation system.

Current Status of Microsprinkler Irrigation in the United States

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 2012
Microsprinkler irrigation is often the preferred method of irrigation for tree and vine crops since it provides a greater degree of freeze protection than drip irrigation and provides water and energy savings over sprinkler and flood irrigation methods.

Water Use in Drip- and Microsprinkler-Irrigated Citrus Trees

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 2014
Advanced citrus production systems (ACPS) are being evaluated in Florida citrus groves for sustainable, profitable citrus production. The ACPS practic- es provide tight control over water and nutrient-mediated plant growth and development using irrigation to train the root system into a limited area and fertigate with daily nutrient requirements. Thus,
