A New Technique Using Axially Slotted Microstrip Line for Antenna Impedance Matching Designs

open access: yesJournal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications
A new technique is presented for designing microstrip patch antennas with very good input impedance matching. The analysis is carried out for 1.78 GHz, 2.42 GHz and 3.46 GHz rectangular patch antennas printed on low-cost fiberglass substrates (FR-4 ...

Simple formulas for microstrip lines

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1976
A modification to earlier work is presented which allows for finite strip thickness in the calculation of microstrip impedance and line wavelength. It shows a considerable improvement in accuracy and scope over some earlier work which included strip thickness, but remains simple in form. Expressions are presented which allow calculation of Z and λg for

Low Insertion‐Loss High Power X‐Band SPDT Transmit/Receive Switches in 250 nm GaN HEMT

open access: yesMicrowave and Optical Technology Letters, Volume 68, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT We present three X‐band transmit/receive (T/R) switches utilizing single‐pole double‐throw (SPDT) structures in 250 nm GaN HEMT technology. The first T/R switch was designed to achieve low insertion loss by constructing the SPDT structure with a series λ/4 transmission line (T‐line) and meticulously selected two HEMT switches in parallel for ...

Calculation of inhomogeneous microstrip lines

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1977
The frequency-dependent transmission properties of in-homogeneous microstrip lines are calculated by means of a waveguide model and the generalised telegraphist's equations. Examples of theoretical and experimental results are presented.

Loss Compensation and Coherent Virtual Absorption via Virtual Complex Frequency Wave Excitation

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
By establishing a mathematical bridge between real and complex frequencies, we present a general method for complex frequency wave excitation to obtain all electromagnetic responses at complex frequencies. Using properties of complex frequency waves, we compensate for the propagating loss of point sources and surface plasmon polaritons.

Research and Application of Microwave Microstrip Transmission Line-Based Icing Detection Methods for Wind Turbine Blades

open access: yesSensors
In areas where there is high humidity and freezing rain, there is a tendency of blade icing on wind turbines. It results in energy dissipation and mechanical abrasion and also creates a safety concern due to the risk of having falling ice.

Novel slow-wave ladder microstrip line filters

open access: yes, 1996
We report an investigation of novel slow-wave ladder microstrip line bandpass filters. The investigation has shown that the ladder microstrip line filters can be designed based on the knowledge of the conventional microstrip coupled line filters. The new

Spoof Surface Plasmon Polaritons in Terahertz Integrated Circuits

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Terahertz integrated circuits (THz ICs) face challenges from wavelength‐scale dimensions and parasitic effects. Spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) provide strong confinement and enhanced near fields, enabling novel transmission and modulation mechanisms.
