Losses in microstrip resonators

International Journal of Electronics, 1976
The effects of radiation losses on the microstrip resonator have been investigated in detail. The ratio of the power radiated to power loss in the microstrip has been theoretically calculated using a modified relation for the characteristic impedance and effective dielectric constant.

Rectangular resonators in inverted microstrip and suspended microstrip

International Journal of Electronics, 1992
Resonant frequency characteristics of rectangular resonators in a generalized shielded suspended substrate line are analysed using a rigorous spectral domain technique. The computed dominant mode resonant frequency of rectangular resonators in a suspended microstrip with centred dielectric, inverted microstrip and suspended microstrip are presented as ...

Measuring microstrip resonator

2000 10th International Crimean Microwave Conference. "Microwave and Telecommunication Technology". Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.00EX415), 2000
The microstrip resonator which is capable of measuring with high accuracy both large and small values of dielectric constant of liquids in a decimeter range of wavelengths has been developed.

A New Planar Microstrip Resonator for Microwave Circuits: The Quasi-Fractal Microstrip Resonator

29th European Microwave Conference, 1999, 1999
a new shape for microwave planar circuits using the self-similarity of the fractal geometry is presented. This new shape allows the generation of numerous resonant frequencies for this microwave planar resonator due to the surfaces encasilng. The resonant frequency assessment can be useful to concept specific filters or wide frequency band matching ...

A study on resonance characteristics of a microstrip open‐loop resonator

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2001
AbstractA microstrip open‐loop resonator (MOLR) is proposed for maximum miniaturization in microwave applications, and to obtain a wider upper stopband including the first spurious resonance frequency for planar bandpass filters. The effect of variation in the width of one of the longer strips of an OLR formed in two ways (namely, fixed‐gap (FG) and ...

Q-factor of tuned microstrip resonator

Radioelectronics and Communications Systems, 2016
The paper presents research of quality factor in the micro-mechanically tunable microstrip resonator and its change in response to tuning. In the presented design unloaded quality factor increases about 10% during tuning due to reduction of dielectric loss in substrate’s medium and ohmic loss in metal electrodes.

Resonance frequency of a rectangular microstrip patch

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1988
The microstrip-patch resonant frequency problem is formulated in terms of an integral equation using vector Fourier transforms. Using Galerkins's method in solving the integral equation, the resonant frequency of the microstrip patch is studied with both Chebyshev polynomials and sinusoidal functions as basis functions.

Microstrip resonators for electron-spin resonance

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1991
Direct detection of thin-film and interfacial electron-spin resonance (ESR) pushes conventional techniques to the noise limit for those techniques and requires use of large-area samples. Several microstrip resonator structures are compared here to conventional techniques and experimental results reported.

Resonance of the axial-symmetric modes in microstrip disk resonators

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1980
Three methods have been used to calculate the resonant frequencies for the axial-symmetric modes in the microstrip disk resonators which also have the application as radiating antennas. The variational Galerkin’s method provides the most accurate result for the estimation of both the real and imaginary parts of the resonant frequency shifts with ...

On the Study of Resonance Splitting in Microstrip Ring Resonators

1990 20th European Microwave Conference, 1990
An equivalent circuit model based on transmission line theory has been analysed to investigate the resonant behaviour of an asymmetrically coupled microstrip ring resonator. Resonance splitting is theoretically predicted and experimental work carried out verifies this phenomenon.
