Needle detection and localisation for robot‐assisted subretinal injection using deep learning

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Subretinal injection is a complicated task for retinal surgeons to operate manually. In this paper we demonstrate a robust framework for needle detection and localisation in robot‐assisted subretinal injection using microscope‐integrated Optical Coherence Tomography with deep learning.

The use of Bioceramics as root-end filling materials in periradicular surgery: a literature review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction: Periradicular surgery involves the placement of a root-end filling following root-end resection, to provide an apical seal to the root canal system. Historically several materials have been used in order to achieve this seal.

Early markers of angiogenesis and ischemia during bowel conduit neovascularization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Bowel flaps are a good and reliable method to restore the continuity of the aerodigestive tract. Radiated fields, contaminated recipient sites, or depleted recipient vessels may increase the risk for ischemic injury after transfer.

Isthmus morphology influences debridement efficacy of activated irrigation: A laboratory study involving biofilm mimicking hydrogel removal and high‐speed imaging

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 56, Issue 1, Page 118-127, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Aim Little is known about the influence of isthmus morphology on the debridement efficacy of activated irrigation. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of isthmus morphology on the debridement efficacy of laser‐activated irrigation (LAI), EDDY and needle irrigation (NI), and to explain the methods of isthmus cleaning by LAI ...

Clinical Effect of Minimally Invasive Microendoscopic‐Assisted Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion for Single‐Level Lumbar Disc Herniation

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 14, Issue 12, Page 3300-3312, December 2022., 2022
Minimally invasive surgical instruments for the MET‐Rx Microsightoscopy System (Medtronic) and a brief description of surgery procedure. Objective This retrospective study aimed to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes of transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) through the Wiltse approach (W‐TLIF) vs minimally invasive microendoscopy ...

Literature Review on Endoscopic Robotic Systems in Ear and Sinus Surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
In otolaryngologic surgery, endoscopy is increasingly used to provide a better view of hard-to-reach areas and to promote minimally invasive surgery. However, the need to manipulate the endoscope limits the surgeon's ability to operate with only one instrument at a time. Currently, several robotic systems are being developed, demonstrating the value of
