Revisiting Charles Keil: Commentary on Câmara et al. (2023)

open access: yesEmpirical Musicology Review
Charles Keil (1966) argued against Leonard Meyer (1956) that the expressivity, emotional power, and groove of music does not primarily lie in the syntax of the notated score, but in music performance as a bodily and participatory process.

Insights Into the Nature of Quantum Emitters in Electron‐Irradiated Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hyperspectral imaging is used to identify quantum emitters hosted by the 2D material hexagonal boron nitride. By selecting specific emission wavelengths, one can distinguish individual emitters from ensembles and gain important insights into the atomic structure of these emitters.

Zero‐Dimensional Perovskite‐Inspired Scintillator‐Based High‐Radiation‐Resistant Radionuclide Analyzer Free From Irreversible Degradation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A zero‐dimensional perovskite‐inspired scintillator (Cs3Cu2I5) is developed as a high‐radiation‐resilient radionuclide analyzer capable of operating under extreme γ‐ray environments. Even after 200 kGy irradiation, the device fully restores its original spectroscopic performance through simple thermal annealing, demonstrating intrinsic defect ...

Effect of leadership change on microtiming patterns in string quartet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
This study investigated the effects of changes in leadership on microtiming patterns of different players within a string quartet. By quantising note onset positions within eighth-note metrical structure of bar-length rhythmic patterns, it is possible to

Quantitative Imaging of Human Hemoglobin Binding to Staphylococcus aureus With Single‐Molecule Resolution

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Single‐molecule localization microscopy is exploited to quantify the number of hemoglobin copies bound to specific receptors on S. aureus wall. This quantification supports the design of a photoactive derivative of hemoglobin able to photo‐inactivate S.

Exploring the Development of EFL Teachers' Resilience in China: A Bioecological Theory Perspective

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Education, Volume 61, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Against the backdrop of intense exam pressure and English curriculum reforms, EFL teachers face persistent occupational strains, yet existing research lacks sufficient insights into the dynamic formation mechanism of teacher resilience. Grounded in the bioecological theory, this study adopted semi‐structured interviews with five senior high ...

Ag‐Induced Phase and Defect Engineering of Co‐Evaporated Sb2Se3 Thin Films for Enhanced Photovoltaic Performance

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 6, November 2026.
The sequential formation of Ag2Se and AgSbSe2 phases at the Sb2Se3/Mo interface upon Ag incorporation in co‐evaporated Sb2Se3 solar cells promotes grain growth and defect passivation. These newly formed intermediate phases enhance crystallinity and suppress recombination, leading to significant improvements in open‐circuit voltage, fill factor, and ...

The missing middle in AI native music production: Compression, editorial musicianship, and governance in the generative stack

open access: yesAI Magazine, Volume 47, Issue 3, Fall 2026.
Abstract This article examines the structural reconfiguration of contemporary music‐making within AI‐mediated production environments. From a historical perspective of music technology, it compares algorithmic composition, electronic instruments, and Digital audio workstations (DAWs) to argue that the present transition represents not a rupture but a ...

Multidimensional microtiming in Samba music [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The connection of “groove” with low-level features in the audio signal has been mostly associated with temporal characteristics of fast metrical structures. However, the production and perception of rhythm in Afro-Brazilian contexts is often described as
