Microtome Sections of Charcoal: – Technical Note –
IAWA Journal, 2012This note describes and illustrates a rapid and user-friendly method to section fragile charcoals by microtome after applying two component adhesive to the transverse charcoal surface and using adhesive tape to prevent the sections to disintegrate.

The counting of cells and nuclei in microtome sections
Journal of Cell Science, 1962ABSTRACT A quantitative relation between the number of nuclei in a tissue and the number of nuclear fragments in its resultant microtome sections has been established by a new method. The general nature of the argument suggested that the correction procedure, although previously restricted to nuclei bounded by membranes, could be applied

Acta Histochemica
To date, no report has compared section thickness (ST) between the sliding microtome (SM) and rotary microtome (RM). We used the ice pack (IP) condition, in which the paraffin block was not cooled during slicing, and a continuous cooling device (CCD) for continuous cooling during slicing.

Holding plastic-embedded specimens for sectioning in a rotary microtome
Experientia, 1976Three methods are evaluated for holding capsules of plastic-embedded tissue for rotary microtomy. Use of a V-block is rapid but deforms the capsule. Gluing the capsule to a supporting block is useful for reorientation of the capsule but otherwise time consuming. adapter is easy to use, does not deform the tissue, and is the preferred method for routine

Contributions to Semithin Sextioning on A Conventional Rotary Microtome
Stain Technology, 1979Procedures for obtaining sections 1 micrometer thick on a conventional rotary microtome are described. Hydrophilic resin blocks with adequate hardness and elasticity for semithin sectioning are made by addition of divinylbenzene and methylmethacrylate to a commercial embedding kit.
