X-ray phase-contrast microscopy and microtomography
In-line phase contrast enables weakly absorbing specimens to be imaged successfully with x-rays, and greatly enhances the visibility of fine scale structure in more strongly absorbing specimens. This type of phase contrast requires a spatially coherent beam, a condition that can be met by a microfocus x-ray source. We have developed an x-ray microscope,

PLA and strontium‐substituted hydroxyapatite filaments were used in 3D printing to fabricate a trabecular‐inspired scaffold. The scaffold was functionalized with a polydopamine coating. Characterization revealed enhanced surface properties and mechanical performance, supporting its potential application in bone tissue engineering.

A microCT Study of Three-Dimensional Patterns of Biomineralization in Pig Molars
Domestic pig molars provide an interesting system to study the biomineralization process. The large size, thick enamel and complex crown morphology make pig molars relatively similar to human molars.

Evaluating the Microstructure and Interaction of Bioaggregates in Concrete Using microCT
ABSTRACT This study investigates the use of x‐ray computed microtomography (microCT) to evaluate the incorporation of bioaggregates—specifically macauba (Acrocomia aculeata) endocarp and jute fibers—into cement‐based composites. MicroCT enables non‐destructive, three‐dimensional characterization of the internal microstructure, providing insights into ...

Pathological Studies in Uteruses by X-ray Microtomography
X-ray computed microtomography (microCT) is an advanced technique for evaluating materials that uses the principle of X-ray attenuation to form high-resolution two- and three-dimensional images.

Neutron microtomography of voids in gold
Pilot attempt of the neutron microtomography of voids in gold carried out using the Neutron Microscope instrument is presented in the paper. The paper demonstrates that neutron microtomography provides viable alternative to X-ray imaging for the assessment of porosity in high atomic number materials.

Copaiba Oil–Resin Reduces the Alveolar Bone Damage Triggered by Apical Periodontitis in Rats
ABSTRACT Aim This study aimed to investigate the effects of copaiba oil–resin on induced apical periodontitis in rats. Methodology A total of 24 male Wistar rats were divided equally into three groups (eight animals each): control (C), apical periodontitis (AP) and apical periodontitis with copaiba administration (AP + COP).

We present a method of injecting peripheral nerves with radiopaque contrast and subsequent CT scanning that produces excellent 3D models of the nerves, leaving the specimens intact and ready for further analysis (e.g., for micro‐CT or histology). Abstract The peripheral nervous system has been the subject of various studies on topics ranging from the ...
