Microtomography with ionising radiations

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1995
Abstract The physical requirements for tomographic imaging with x-ray photons and energetic ions beams are reviewed and some illustrative applications are briefly described. The number of x-ray photons needed to produce tomographic images of a given quality in terms of spatial and density resolution is shown to be independent of object size ...

Microfocus radiography producing microtomography

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1994
Abstract A microtomographic system has been made using a real time microfocus radiographic system and a image digitalizer schedule. The aim of this system was reaching an acceptable data acquisition time, which was hardly reduced compared to traditional microtomographic systems that employ conventional X-ray sources and detectors.

Synchrotron microtomography of supported catalysts

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1989
Synchrotron microtomography is a new technique which is capable of elemental, chemical, and structure sensitive imaging in three dimensions at resolutions better than 15 μm. This paper describes the first application of this new technique to the investigation of the morphology and elemental distribution of a supported catalyst.

Recent developments in microtomography at GeoSoilEnviroCARS

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
A facility for x-ray computed microtomography (CMT) is operating as a national user facility for earth and environmental sciences research on the bending magnet beamline at the GeoSoilEnviroCARS sector at the Advanced Photon Source (APS). The APS bending magnet has a critical energy of 20 keV, and thus provides high flux at photon energies up to 100

X-ray microtomography of materials

International Materials Reviews, 1999
X-ray microtomography allows imaging of the interior microstructure of materials non- destructively and with spatial resolution which can approach that of optical microscopy (typically, no better than 1 μm in samples whose cross-sectional diameter is on the order of 1 mm, and 10 &µm for 10 mm specimens).

Synchrotron X-Ray Microtomography

1988
We present results obtained with a new form of 3-D microscopy. The technique is based on tomographic methods and we refer to it as 3-D Microtomography. When used with a tunable X-ray source, it is a powerful diagnostic and research tool for a wide variety of materials studies problems.
