Wood‐Derived Nanocellulose‐Biocarbon Fresnel‐Zone Plate Lenses for Sub‐THz Frequency Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Wood‐derived nanocellulose and lignin‐based biocarbon were combined to fabricate fully bio‐based Fresnel zone plate (FZP) lenses for sub‐terahertz frequencies. These sustainable FZP lenses exhibit low dielectric loss and high directivity, achieving performance comparable to that of metallic references, and remain functional under environmental stress ...

High toughness and strong microwave absorption of layered Si3N4–SiC/BN ceramics loaded with different SiC contents

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics
Layered ceramics can simultaneously achieve high toughness and strong microwave absorption. In this work, layered Si3N4–SiC/boron nitride (BN) ceramics were prepared by tape casting and hot pressing, and the effect of microsized SiC content on their ...

Low‐Pressure Plasma‐Based Wrinkling of PDMS and Machine Learning‐Driven Property Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Wrinkled surfaces are well‐suited for controlled surface deformations in the µm range. The key challenge is the relation between the resulting wrinkle features and the necessary process conditions. Machine learning techniques have solved the prediction and inverse design problems for various preparation conditions, opening a precisely controlled ...

Nanopatterned Dual‐Carbon‐Dot Photonic Films With Enhanced Light Outcoupling

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoimprinted dual‐carbon‐dot/PVA films combine composition‐tunable blue–green emission with grating‐mediated directional light outcoupling. Water‐processable B‐CD and G‐CD composites are patterned by drying‐assisted nanoimprinting, producing angle‐selective emission peaks that follow the first‐order diffraction condition and exhibit reference ...

Programmable Anisotropic Terahertz Permittivity via High‐Aspect‐Ratio 3D‐Printed Dielectric Mesh Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed Terahertz (THz) anisotropic dielectric with programmable permittivity by varying infill density and creating high‐aspect‐ratio channels is presented. The proposed design was evaluated both experimentally, through THz time‐domain spectroscopy, and theoretically, through FDTD simulations and Effective Medium Theory analysis.

Effect of Fiber Type and Length on Strength, Fracture Energy, and Durability Properties of Microwave-Cured Fiber-Reinforced Geopolymer Mortars

open access: yesBuildings
Microwave curing can be an alternative curing method for geopolymer production. Although many properties of microwave-cured geopolymer composites have been investigated, the effect of microwave curing on the strength and durability properties of fiber ...

Microwave Absorption and Emission in the Atmosphere of Venus.

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1960
The planet Venus is obscured by a permanent cloud layer which prevents clear observation of its lower atmosphere or surface by optical techniques. Radio astronomy, however, appears to offer a means by which the lower atmosphere may be probed. Measurements made at the Naval Research Laboratory of the microwave radiation from Venus near inferior ...
