Generation of an Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Derived Alveolar Type II In Vitro Model to Study Influenza A Virus Infection and Drug Treatments

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) can be differentiated into alveolar type II cells (iAT2s), expanded as 3D alveolospheres, and grown at physiologically relevant air–liquid interface (ALI). This study shows for the first time the infectability of iAT2s by the influenza A virus (IAV) and proves their responsiveness to the well ...

Microwave heating of metals

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2012
Modelling of industrial microwave furnaces is a multi-physics, non-linear, temperature-dependent, complicated process given that the computational domain could become exceptionally large, and many of the utilised furnace material properties are functions of temperature that remain unknown or unpublished.

Ferritin‐Doped Nanoparticles Triggered Tumor‐Specific Darkening for Enhanced Photothermal Tumor Ablation and Immune Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ferritin‐doped hybrid nanoparticles triggered accurate tumor‐specific hemorrhage for enhanced in situ photothermal therapy and evoked anti‐tumor immunity. Notably, HFn/GA‐Fe specifically induced tumor hemorrhage 12 h after intravenous injection, resulting in visible color darkening. Through photoacoustic imaging, tumor vessels could be clearly observed
