A Review of Microwave Oven Safety
Journal of Microwave Power, 1978The microwave leakage from current microwave ovens, which are manufactured to meet government emission standards, is reviewed. Typical leakage values imply exposure values well below the most conservative exposure standards in the world. A review of recent developments discloses increasingly stringent government regulation along with advances in ...

Microwave oven radiation hazards
International Journal of Environmental Studies, 1975This paper presents the results of a survey on the radiation leakage from a representative sample of microwave ovens in Regina. A brief review of potential hazards of microwave radiation is presented and the results of the survey are analyzed with a view of initiating further research in this area.

Microwave ovens are being used increasingly in the home for the rapid cooking and reheating of foods. Yet a recent survey in the United States has shown that ‘approximately one‐third of microwave oven‐users are substantially dissatisfied with microwave cooking’, one reason being that the food is frequently cooked unevenly.

Cardiac Pacemakers and Microwave Ovens
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1970To the Editor.— A recent letter to the Editor ofThe Journal( 212 : 1213, 1970) reported on observed effects on patients with implanted cardiac pacers when in the vicinity of certain microwave cooking ovens. As a result of experience in the testing of pacers, the writers are aware of certain precautions that should be taken by those making in vitro ...

Microwave Engineering Problems in the Microwave Oven
MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005A general review of microwave engineering problems of the microwave oven is presented. Of central importance is the continuing improvement of the microwave magnetron in efficiency and stability. The goal of uniform heating is discussed with reference to measurement techniques and efforts at standardization.

An investigation of the usefulness of the microwave oven for water content determination and for drying of soil before testing was performed. Soils ranging from highly plastic clays to clean sand were used. The influences of initial water content, amount of soil, and soil type on the drying time were investigated.

A Gas/Microwave Combination Oven
Journal of Microwave Power, 1981AbstractA gas and. microwave combination oven which has a gas heater, a circulating blower and a magnetron in the same cavity was developed. Hoi-air generated is introduced into the cavity through openings designed to provide microwave cut-off. This oven can be operated simultaneously with both gas and microwaves, which results in a reduction of ...

Synthesis of Oximes in the Microwave Oven
Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 1992The synthesis of a broad range of oximes has been studied. It was found that the application of microwave heating enhanced dramatically the reaction rate, and practically quantitative yields of oximes were isolated after less than 1-min heating in the most cases. The effect of solvents on the course of the reaction was also studied.
