Toward Plasmonic Neuronal Architectures at the Nanometer Scale

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 7, 13 April 2026.
The concept of a plasmonic neural cell is realized through the integration of multiplexed optical inputs, static weighting, and nonlinear readout. The inputs are encoded in the orbital angular momentum of light and coupled into dielectric‐loaded plasmonic waveguides via nanostructured slits.

Digitally Tunable Dispersion Controller Using Low‐Loss Silicon Nitride Multimode Waveguide Gratings

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 8, 24 April 2026.
A digitally tunable dispersion controller (DTDC) using low‐loss silicon nitride multimode waveguide gratings is demonstrated. Utilizing cascaded chirped multimode waveguide gratings and Mach–Zehnder switches, the device achieves a tuning range of 0–49.72 ps/nm with 1.60 ps/nm steps over a 26‐nm bandwidth.

Broadband THz Molecular Fingerprinting Enabled by Brillouin Zone Folded Quasi‐BICs in Plasmonic Metasurfaces

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 8, 24 April 2026.
A broadband terahertz fingerprint metasensor is proposed based on Brillouin zone folding‐driven quasi‐bound states in the continuum. By establishing a distributed array of high‐Q resonant probes, this sensor achieves a 14‐fold sensitivity enhancement and enables high‐fidelity retrieval of molecular fingerprints across 0.3–0.8 THz, offering a versatile ...

Multiplexing Two Types of High‐Order Topological Corner States in Kagome Lattice Photonic Crystals

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 8, 24 April 2026.
Higher‐order topological corner states in kagome photonic crystals exhibit a direction‐wavelength locking mechanism: two corner states with distinct resonant frequencies couple to different output channels. Harnessing this effect, a 1 × 2 wavelength demultiplexer achieves low‐crosstalk signal separation, demonstrating the potential of topological ...
