A microwave photon detector [PDF]

open access: possiblePhysics of the Solid State, 2016
The possibility of the implementation of a single-photon detector in the microwave range has been discussed. It has been shown that, for these purposes, it is possible to use an unshunted Josephson junction, which is switched from the superconducting state into a finite-voltage state at the presence of an external signal.

Microwave Photonics for a Radar Network

OSA Advanced Photonics Congress (AP) 2019 (IPR, Networks, NOMA, SPPCom, PVLED), 2019
The benefits of photonics-based fully coherent radar networks are analyzed. The first photonics-based coherent 2×2 MIMO radar network has been implemented and tested in real environments confirming the potential of photonics in overcoming RF issues.

Microwaves and photonics

Symposium on Electro-Optics: Present and Future, 1998
Microwave “circuit” design was a mature field in the 50’s that has fallen into obsolescence due to Monolithic Integrated Microwave Circuit (MMIC) technology. Today, fabrication technology has advanced to a point that optical devices a few wavelengths in size can be fabricated.

Microwave photonics instantaneous frequency measurement receiver based on a Sagnac loop.

Optics Letters, 2018
A microwave photonics instantaneous frequency measurement receiver was conceived and practically demonstrated. The system is based on phase modulation inside a Sagnac loop and therefore needs no bias voltage, resulting in no DC bias drifts.

Photonics for Microwave Systems

2019 International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics (MWP), 2019
The potential of photonics in the next generation RF systems for communications and sensing is summarized in this paper. Photonics will allow for an increasing interactions between networks of sensors and communications networks, both of them more and more heterogeneous, flexible and miniaturized.
