Coaxial microwave plasma source

Plasma Physics Reports, 2011
Physical principles underlying the operation of a pulsed coaxial microwave plasma source (micro-wave plasmatron) are considered. The design and parameters of the device are described, and results of experimental studies of the characteristics of the generated plasma are presented.

Microwave Radiation from Plasmas

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1962
In the present experiments observations were carried out in a micro-wave region, where the wavelength was comparable to or shorter than a dimension of the discharge tube. Incoherent radiation, namely, noise radiation from plasmas which were semi-opaque or opaque was observed.

Microwave interactions with plasmas

IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts. 1996 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science, 1996
The physics of EM wave interactions with plasma with and without the confining magnetic field is presented. The plasma resonance enhances the incident field to large local values. The ponderomotive force of these enhanced electric fields create density perturbations.

Microwave Plasma Density Measurements

Journal of Applied Physics, 1965
To make plasma density measurements on a cylindrical column with a microwave cavity requires a precise curve of cavity frequency versus density. In practice, one uses the measured cavity frequency (without a plasma) and the initial slope of this curve. An analysis is made for the TM010 mode to determine the effects of nonuniformity (a parabolic density)

Microwave Interaction with Plasmas

1993
Abstract : During the past year, we have made progress on frequency shifting by means of plasmas. Theoretically we have demonstrated that a rising plasma density tends to slow down and trap microwaves passing through the plasma-filled region. This increases the interaction time, so that a very rapid rise in plasma density is not required to produce ...

Microwave-induced plasma-promoted materials synthesis

Dalton Transactions, 2007
The discovery of new materials requires the development of a diversity of synthetic techniques. Microwave methods offer the opportunity to synthesise and modify the composition, structure and morphology of materials, particularly composites via differential heating.
