Estimation of vertically integrated liquid water contents in the atmosphere

open access: yesAntarctic Record, 1991
A 5-year project of "Antarctic Climate Research (ACR)" started in 1987. One of the main projects of the ACR is an observation of clouds and precipitation.

A multi-sensor analysis of Nimbus 5 data on 22 January 1973 [PDF]

open access: yes
The Nimbus 5 meteorological satellite carried aloft a full complement of radiation sensors, the data from which were analyzed and intercompared during orbits 569-570 on 22 January 1973.

Miniature modular microwave end-to-end receiver [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
An end-to-end microwave receiver system contained in a single miniature hybrid package mounted on a single heatsink is presented. It includes an input end connected to a microwave receiver antenna and an output end which produces a digital count ...

Self-balancing microwave comparison radiometer

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1965
A 3cm radiometer evolved from Allred's 3 Mc/s system is described. The sum and difference of the voltages from an aerial and a controllable noise source are formed in a magic-T hybrid and correlated. The correlator output, which is zero only for equal aerial and reference powers, is used to adjust the reference to equality.

Methods of research of radiothermal radiation of cryospheric objects in the microwave range [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Many cryospheric formations on Earth have an inaccessible location. For example, when studying ice sheets located on the water surface, at the initial moment of ice formation, it becomes difficult to take samples.

Orbiting multi-beam microwave radiometer for soil moisture remote sensing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The effects of soil moisture and other factors on soil surface emissivity are reviewed and design concepts for a multibeam microwave radiometer with a 15 m antenna are described. Characteristic antenna gain and radiation patterns are shown and losses due

Microwave Remote Sensing of Soil Moisture [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Because of the large contrast between the dielectric constant of liquid water and that of dry soil at microwave wavelength, there is a strong dependence of the thermal emission and radar backscatter from the soil on its moisture content.
