A Simple Continuous Flow Microwave Reactor
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2005A new simple procedure for microwave-assisted organic synthesis under continuous flow processing has been developed for use in a monomodal microwave synthesizer with direct temperature control using the instrument's in-built IR sensor. This design makes optimum use of the standing wave cavity to improve the energy efficiency of microwave-assisted flow ...

A LTCC microwave-microfluidic reactor
2016 21st International Conference on Microwave, Radar and Wireless Communications (MIKON), 2016This paper describes a prototype of a LTCC microwave-microfluidic reactor, which was built to test a possibility of accelerating chemical reactions. The authors put their focus on conditions that must be met to assure reliable assessment of power that is delivered to the reactor, and which is used to stimulate a chemical reaction.

Microwave Synthesis of Zeolites: 1. Reactor Engineering
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2004Studies in the past decade suggest that microwave energy may have a unique ability to influence chemical processes. These include chemical and materials syntheses as well as separations. Specifically, recent studies have documented significantly reduced time for the fabrication of zeolites employing microwave energy.

Emulsion polymerization in a microwave reactor
Polymer, 1998Interest continues to grow concerning the application of microwave heating in chemical processes. This study shows that polymerization reactions such as emulsion polymerization in a polar solvent can be carried out rapidly and conveniently using microwave heating in glass reactors.

A microwave reactor for characterization of pyrolyzed biomass
Bioresource Technology, 2012A microwave reactor (MWR) was designed to investigate microwave-induced pyrolysis of biomass. Condensation of tars on the quartz reactor and the pipelines was prevented by an electric heating device, and a temperature control function allowed determination of product characteristics at constant temperatures.

Microwave Absorbing Ferrite Thin Films for Microwave Heating of Microstructured Reactors
MRS Proceedings, 2009AbstractNanocrystalline Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 thin films have been synthesized with various grain sizes by sol–gel method on polycrystalline silicon substrates. The morphology and microwave absorption properties of the films calcined in the 673–1073 K range were studied by using XRD, AFM, near–field evanescent microwave microscopy, coplanar waveguide and ...

Modelling of a microwave postdischarge nitriding reactor
Surface and Coatings Technology, 1993Abstract In a postdischarge nitriding reactor, reactive species, which have a short lifetime, are created by means of a plasma and then sent by convection towards the sample which is to be treated. The aim of the model presented here is to optimize the gas flow characteristics (composition, flow rate, pressure etc.) in order to obtain a maximum ...
