Energy Efficiency of Conventionally-Heated Pilot Plant Reactors Compared with Microwave Reactors

Energy & Fuels, 2010
We report on the energy usage required for one organic reaction in two small pilot plant scale reactors of different vessel designs (both 50 L) conducted in a kilogram scale facility. The background energy consumption of the building and all supporting services was determined beforehand, and this figure used to compensate for the energy usage required ...

Reactions of benzene in a microwave discharge reactor

Journal of Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology, 1972
AbstractA study has been made of the reactions of benzene in a continuous‐flow microwave‐discharge reactor. The distribution of reaction products was found to depend on the reactor pressure and flow‐rate. By accounting for all reaction products (solid, liquid and gas) an overall mass balance was obtained.

Microwave Investigation of Plasmas Produced in a Reactor

Journal of Applied Physics, 1967
The results of a microwave investigation of gaseous plasmas produced by the radiation field within the core of a water-cooled nuclear reactor are reported. It is shown that the plasmas thus formed are applicable in reactor instrumentation and are quite suitable for investigating basic plasma phenomena such as various collision cross sections and ...

Microwave Reactors for Chemical Synthesis and Biofuels Preparation

2014
Microwave reactors are among the most novel thermochemical technologies to treat biomass and improve process sustainability. The microwave-assisted process offers several advantages over the traditional ones in terms of uniform internal heating of heterogeneous low-thermal conductivity loads, ease of control, saving of time and heat energy for properly

Combined microwave-ultrasound reactors for chemical synthesis

2005
A system of chem. reactors involving two types of nonconventional energies, i.e. microwave and ultrasound, for promoting chem. reactions of a various nature is provided with one or more reaction cells where irradn. with microwave and/or ultrasound takes place either simultaneously or subsequently, as well as with a cooling app.
