Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Ultralow‐Frequency Epsilon‐Near‐Zero States in 3D‐Printed High‐Entropy Alloy Metacomposites for Ultra‐Thin Perfect RF Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rozanov causality limit—a compulsive proportional thickness‐wavelength relationship (nd ∝ λ)—makes it challenging to develop perfect absorption with both thin thickness and low frequency. Herein, a cocktail effect in high‐entropy alloys (HEA) is crucially utilized for lowering plasma frequency to achieve epsilon‐near‐zero states, which finally enables ...

Wireless Power Transfer Based on Microwaves and Time Reversal for Indoor Environments [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Resorting to power accurate delivery for wireless power transfer (WPT) based on microwaves, a theory and method based on time reversal (TR) for WPT in 3D indoor environments are presented in this paper. Conventional WPT methods have the limitations of requiring that the elements on power source array (PSA) must have the same structure and regular ...

Millisecond‐Switching Dual‐Band/Dual‐Polarization Ka‐Band Wavefront Control Enabled by a Complementary Liquid‐Crystal Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An LCD‐compatible complementary liquid‐crystal metasurface delivers dual‐band, dual‐polarized Ka‐band wavefront control with millisecond switching via a 10‐µm LC gap. Interlaced patch/slot pairs enable independent phase tuning at 28 and 38 GHz, while strategic 45° slot rotation suppresses parasitic resonances. Measurements on a 160 × 160‐cell prototype
