Microzonation map of the Abbottabad basin and immediate surroundings

Journal of Seismology, 2019
This study presents seismic hazard and seismic microzonation maps for the Abbottabad basin and surroundings, which are used in assessment and seismic design of buildings and bridges and other infrastructures. This research work determines microzonation parameters (shear wave velocity, fundamental frequency, and acceleration on ground surface) using ...

MICROZONATION MAPS FOR KUALA LUMPUR AND PUTRAJAYA

Malaysian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2018
Geotechnical factors often exert a major influence on damage patterns and loss of life in earthquake events. Even within an area of a city, building response and damage are varied significantly due to variation of soil profiles in that particular city.

Seismic microzonation for Penang using geospatial contour mapping

Natural Hazards, 2014
Shear wave velocity (V s) and the fundamental site period of the subsurface condition are the primary parameters that affect seismic soil amplification in particular sites. Within the topmost layer of the soil, which measures 30 m, the average shear wave velocity V s30 is commonly used to build codes for site ...

SEISMIC HAZARD MAPPING FOR PEAK GROUND VELOCITY – I: MICROZONATION OF NEW DELHI, INDIA

ISET Journal of Earthquake Technology, 2023
We present the probabilistic seismic microzonation maps for Vmax , peak velocity of strong earthquake ground motion, for New Delhi. We show how these maps can be used to evaluate the strains near ground surface during strong ground motion, the areas where buildings can be damaged during future strong ground motion.

Seismic microzonation map of Syria using topographic slope and characteristics of surface soil

Natural Hazards, 2015
The microzonation map of any region is important to plan proper design of building, especially in seismic prone region. This paper discusses the use of remote sensing data and digital elevation model (DEM) in evaluating the site-specific conditions for microzonation map of Syria.

Engineering Geology Mapping for Seismic Microzoning Purpose in Lezha Town Area, Albania

Proceedings, 2013
nds in northwest of Albania, closed to Adriatic Sea. Mostly of the Lezha town is built on flat area on both site of Drini River that are consisted of soils with low geotechnical properties. The other part of town is built on hill’s slopes, which are characterize by unstable state.

Hazard mapping of normalized peak strain in soils during earthquakes: microzonation of a metropolitan area

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 1996
Seisnfic hazard maps of the Los Angeles metropolitan area are illustrated for normalized peak strain and for 50 years of exposure. The strain estimates are based on scaling in terms of peak ground velocity. The proportionality factor is the phase velocity with which the wave energy is propagating.

Mapping Social Mixing and Proximity in Arezzo, Italy: From Microzones to Hyperproximity

Geographical Review
This article investigates the configuration of social mixing and proximity within the peripheral neighborhoods of Arezzo, Italy—namely San Donato, Saione, Tortaia, and San Marco alla Sella—utilizing a student-led participatory mapping protocol that integrates fieldwork, qualitative observation, and digital visualization.
