North Atlantic Hydrography and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge

This paper presents primarily the soundings obtained by the Research Vessel ATLANTIS during the summer field season of 1947. It also utilizes some of the data obtained by later expeditions of the ATLANTIS and by several other vessels. The ATLANTIS is equipped with a continuously recording fathometer with a range up to 4000 fathoms.

Seafloor insonification near the Mid-Atlantic Ridge

As part of the Acoustical Reverberation Special Research Program (ARSRP), several at-sea experiments were performed near the Mid-Atlantic Ridge to understand low grazing angle backscattering from the ocean seafloor. Mid-Atlantic Ridge near 43°N latitude

The results of a reconnaissance bathymetric and magnetic survey of the mid-Atlantic ridge between 42° and 45°N latitude show a symmetrical north-south magnetic pattern parallel to the axis over the two southernmost of six profiles across the ridge. The southern profiles are also characterized by a well developed central rift valley.

Cephalopods of the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge

Abstract A two-leg cruise of R/V G. O. Sars in summer of 2004 along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge explored the diversity and distribution patterns of pelagic and non-hydrothermal bottom communities in the vicinity of the northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge. In total, 1295 cephalopods were caught, representing 56 species.
