Technical Digest. Summaries of papers presented at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics. Postconference Edition. CLEO '99. Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (IEEE Cat. No.99CH37013), 2003
Summary form only given. Application of a far-infrared pulse in the terahertz (THz) frequency range provides an advantage in imaging of chemical and biological materials due to strong molecular resonance in the frequency range. Two dimensional frame imaging of THz illumination is also possible as demonstrated recently.

GaInAsSb Mid-infrared diode lasers
1994 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe, 1994For the past six years, Lincoln Laboratory has been developing mid-infrared diode lasers based upon GaInAsSb/AlGaAsSb heterostructures grown on GaSb substrates by molecular beam epitaxy.1-4 Compactness and efficiency make diode lasers very desirable in the mid infrared for optical pumping solid-state lasers and for direct sources in this spectral range,

This thesis describes a series of experiments that were undertaken to extend the limits of output power and wavelength coverage of optically pumped mid-infrared lasers. Initially, two new CW Raman lasers operating at wavelengths of 11.5 and 12.5 pm were developed.
