Metisella midas midas Butler, 1894 This subspecies was described from Zomba, Malawi (Butler 1894), and its range extends from Malawi and Zimbabwe to Congo and East Africa. Evans (1937) described specimens from Nigeria and Cameroon as subspecies malda. This species is one of a group of four orange spotted Metisella spp. from Kenya.

The original MIDAS program (MIDAS I, Wright Patterson AFB1) and the enlarged version of MIDAS (MIDAS II, North American Aviation2) proved to be effective tools for the digital solution of comple,, engineering problems. For large problems, however, running times for these programs were excessive and means were sought to improve the run-time efficiency.
