Les dépôts continentaux du Jurassique moyen au Crétacé inférieur dans le Haut Atlas oriental (Maroc) : paléoenvironnements successifs et signification paléogéographique [Middle Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous continental deposits from eastern High Atlas (Morocco): successive paleoenvironments and paleogeographic significance]

open access: yesCarnets de Géologie, 2008
In the eastern High Atlas (Morocco), continental "Red Beds" overlying the last marine deposits of Jurassic age consist of three main lithostratigraphic units: the Anoual Formation, the Ksar Metlili Formation and the Dekkar Group, bounded by two sharp ...

Application of rock physics diagnostics for reservoir characterization: a case study of the Aptian-Cenomanian Bentiu sandstone, Muglad Basin, Sudan

open access: yesGeomechanics and Geophysics for Geo-Energy and Geo-Resources
During the last decades, advances in rock physics diagnostics have established them as a powerful tool for reservoir characterization. This study applies rock physics diagnostics, alongside petrophysical evaluation to the Aptian-Cenomanian Bentiu ...

New insight on the stratigraphy of the "Upper Thamama" in offshore Abu Dhabi (U.A.E.)

open access: yesCarnets de Géologie, 2003
An integrated case study of field "A" in offshore Abu Dhabi found that the stratigraphic framework for the uppermost part of the so-called "Thamama Group" required revision.

Stratigraphic and sedimentary evidences for development of Aptian intrashelf basin in the structural Zagros zone, northern Fars Platform [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology Researches, 2016
Introduction The Cretaceous successions of the Arabian plate host main hydrocarbon reserves of the world and the Middle East. The Arabian plate had experienced particular sedimentary circumstances in the early Cretaceous so that the shape of sedimentary ...

Endémisme et cosmopolitisme des faunes d'ammonites de la plaque arabique au Crétacé moyen (Aptien - Turonien)

open access: yesCarnets de Géologie, 2007
This paper is a first approach to the distribution through space and time of the mid-Cretaceous ammonite faunas of the Arabian plate. It is based on new collections made in Iran (Lurestan, Khuzestan and the coastal Fars area) and data from the literature

Paleomagnetic inclinations and relative paleointensity variations during the upper Aptian to middle Albian in Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, South Atlantic Ocean (NE Brazil)

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International
SUMMARY During the Jurassic and Early Cretaceous, Earth's magnetic field experienced a high frequency of polarity reversals. This hyperactivity period is followed by a ∼38 Myr prolonged period of stable normal polarity from the Aptian until the Santonian, known as the Cretaceous Normal Superchron (CNS; chron C34n, from 121.4 to 83.65 Ma).

About the stratigraphic position of the Lower Aptian Roloboceras hambrovi (Ammonoidea) level

open access: yesCarnets de Géologie, 2008
In the stratotype of the Lower Aptian substage the position of the assemblage that includes Roloboceras spp. and Megatyloceras spp. has been clearly established as being in the middle part of the upper Bedoulian. Some authors have erected this horizon as

Le Gargasien de Gargas (Vaucluse, SE de la France) : synthèse des données de terrain et révision de la microfaune de foraminifères et d'ostracodes [The Gargasian of Gargas (Vaucluse, SE France): Synthesis of field data and revision of the foraminiferal and ostracodal microfauna]

open access: yesCarnets de Géologie, 2009
Because of urbanization the section at Gargas, historical stratotype of the Aptian stage and of the Gargasian substage, is no longer accessible. However, samples taken there in 1966 by one of us make feasible a reinterpretation of this series in the ...
