Ruptured middle cerebral artery
Neuroradiology, 1971One case of a ruptured cerebral artery caused by head trauma is reported. The carotid angiogram showed extravasation of contrast medium from the proximal portion of the right middle cerebral artery.

Duplicated middle cerebral artery (DMCA) has been reported in 0.7%-2.9% of autopsy cases, and sme reports have described aneurysms in the MCA. Both ruptured and unruptured aneurysms in the MCA have been reported, often requiring surgical intervention. During surgery for aneurysm in DMCA, care must be taken to avoid damaging the MCA, which supplies the ...

Minimosymptomatic occlusion of the middle cerebral artery
Medical Hypotheses, 1981Minimosymptomatic occlusion of the MCA before the origin of the perforating branches is an exceedingly rare occurrence. We report two cases of MCA occlusion at its origin, the second case proven by the CT scan in vivo. Published work rules out the possibility of a functionally effective deep collateral circulation in the distribution of the capsular ...

Middle cerebral artery embolectomy
Acta Neurochirurgica, 1978Report of a case with incomplete occlusion of the right middle cerebral artery due to an embolus, with successful embolectomy. The literature has been reviewed. Indications for operative treatment and criteria for prognosis have been worked out.

Microsurgical treatment of thrombosed middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysm is very complicated, especially in recurrent cases. A 48-year-old man presented with a recurrent thrombosed right MCA aneurysm. We performed MCA-to-MCA bypass using a superficial temporal artery (STA) interposition graft and proximal trapping.

Malignant Middle Cerebral Artery Infarction Resulting from Dissection of Middle Cerebral Artery
Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, 2015A 30-year-old man presented with headache, left hemiparesis, and uncal herniation. Magnetic resonance imaging showed acute infarction in the right middle cerebral artery (MCA). Lifesaving craniotomy proceeded because of the uncal herniation. Assessment of brain tissue led to a diagnosis of MCA dissection.

Most recent studies on the effectiveness of cerebral revascularization have focused on the treatment of atherosclerotic internal carotid artery occlusive disease. The goal of the present study was to assess neurological function in 11 severe atherosclerotic middle cerebral artery (MCA) disease patients with transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) and ...

Aneurysm of a Duplicate Middle Cerebral Artery
World Neurosurgery, 2012Anatomic middle cerebral artery (MCA) anomalies are rare, but each of the described variants (eg, duplicate, fenestrated, accessory) can be of clinical significance.A 34-year-old man with a history of left hemispheric stroke was found to have an aberrant, early-arising duplicate left M1 segment of the MCA with an associated asymptomatic fusiform ...

Traumatic Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion
Radiology, 1966This work was supported in part by a Special Fellowship Award (1 F11 NB 1478-01 NSRA) from the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Blindness, Public Health Service. Post-traumatic middle cerebral artery occlusion demonstrated angiographically and followed by full recovery has been infrequently reported (1, 2). We have had the opportunity to

OCCLUSION OF THE MIDDLE CEREBRAL ARTERY
A.M.A. Archives of Neurology & Psychiatry, 1951SIR ASTLEY COOPER1in 1836 reported the results of a series of experiments in which he ligated the principal cervical arteries and nerves in various combinations and sequences. He concluded that death following pressure on the neck was due to cerebral anemia rather than to a direct nervous mechanism.
