New U–Pb zircon dating shows the Rewan Group was deposited between ~250 and 233 million years ago and that sedimentation shifted across the basin through time, with earlier deposition in the foredeep and later deposition in the back bulge. Testing multiple dating approaches and grain‐selection strategies improves confidence in these age estimates and ...

2D seismic and well data reveal multi‐phase basin filling in the Whatcom Sub‐Basin shaped by syn‐depositional tectonism. An Eocene transition from forearc basin to forearc depression corresponds to decreasing normal‐fault density and throw, both upsection and eastward. Paleogene–Neogene strata are the best CO2 storage targets.

The study of heavy mineral assemblages with statistical analysis resolves provenance signatures and quantifies syn‐emplacement modification of sand injection complexes. Results demonstrate transformative petrological processes, including density‐dependent hydraulic sorting and mechanical grain degradation.

Paleogene unconformity development from ~64 to 22 Ma for the Magallanes‐Austral retroarc foreland basin (MAB). Schematic shows (A) MAB foreland subsidence and basin infilling, (B) onset of cooling and basin inversion as subducting plate shallows, (C) continued foreland uplift, erosion and cooling as the oblique Farallon‐Phoenix ridge subducts beneath ...
