Roadian–Wordian (Guadalupian, Middle Permian) global palaeobiogeography of brachiopods

Global and Planetary Change, 2009
Abstract A database of 4471 Roadian–Wordian (Guadalupian, Middle Permian) occurrences of 381 brachiopod genera in 44 different operational geographical units (stations) was analyzed by both Q-mode and R-mode quantitative methods. Four distinct brachiopod biogeographical realms and nine provinces, and 11 brachiopod associations are recognized.

Calibrating the Guadalupian Series (Middle Permian) of South China

Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2017
Abstract The Guadalupian Epoch represents one of the most critical intervals during the Earth history which is characterized by a series of global geological and biological events. However, it is poorly constrained by radioisotopic ages in comparison with the high-precision dates from the Lopingian and lowest Triassic in South China and the ...

Middle Permian calcispongal cement reef on the Velebit Mt

Vijesti Hrvatskoga geološkog društva, 2000
Middle Permian “middle zone of black limestones” exposed near Baške Oštarije on the Velebit Mt. is reinterpreted as ecological and morphological calcispongite reef. The reef framework is made of fenestellid bryozoans and calcisponges. It is possible to recognize two overgrowth generations.

Acanthodian remains from the Middle‐Late Permian of Brazil

Geological Journal, 2007
AbstractAcanthodian fishes have been recorded from Silurian through to Permian rocks. Bone beds in the Teresina Formation of the Passa Dois Group (Paraná Basin) in São Gabriel, State of Rio Grande do Sul (southern Brazil) have yielded acanthodian scales and fin spine fragments and are preserved in association with shark and lower actinopterygian fish ...

Evolutionary pattern of fusulinacean foraminifer in Maokouan, middle Permian

Science in China Series D: Earth Sciences, 1999
A composite standard section (CSS) has been established for the Maokouan (≈ Guadalupian) in Guizhou Province, southwestern China, which includes stratigraphical ranges of 179 fusulinacean species from five sections of the Maokou Formation in this area.

MIDDLE PERMIAN RUGOSE CORALS FROM LAIBIN, GUANGXI, SOUTH CHINA

Journal of Paleontology, 2001
Abstract The Middle Permian Chihsia and Maokou formations in Laibin, central Guangxi, South China contain 19 rugose coral species; of these taxa, Lophocarinophyllum sandoi, Asserculinia solida, and Innixiphyllum wuae are new. Innixiphyllum represents a new genus characterized by contratingent minor septa.

Precipitation of Authigenic Minerals in Artesia Group (Middle Permian) Sandstones of Permian Basin: ABSTRACT

AAPG Bulletin, 1979
Middle Permian Artesia Group sandstones of the Northwestern shelf and Central Basin platform of the Permian basin contain some interesting authigenic minerals (cements) which include clays, sulfates, dolomite, halite, quartz, and orthoclase. To a large degree, diagenetic minerals reflect environments of deposition, although the relation is not always ...

Contrasting microbial community changes during mass extinctions at the Middle/Late Permian and Permian/Triassic boundaries

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 2017
Abstract Microbial communities are known to expand as a result of environmental deterioration during mass extinctions, but differences in microbial community changes between extinction events and their underlying causes have received little study to date.

Middle Permian reef complex on the Velebit Mt.

1999
The superimposed carbonate bodies are interpreted as ecological and morphological reef complex, based on their characteristic fossil association, body geometry and characteristic internal organisation. Sea level changes reflected themselves in aborting and resuming the reef growth.

Tectonics of Middle Devonian-Middle Permian (The Tianshan Tectonic Period, 397–260 Ma)

2010
In China the tectonic period from Middle Devonian to Middle Permian (397–260 Ma) has previously been called the Variscian or Hercynian Period, following the terms used for Late Carboniferous to Early Permian tectonic movements in Europe, but it is more appropriate that this period should be re-defined from China.
