The age of North America’s youngest Paleozoic continental vertebrates: a review of data from the Middle Permian Pease River (Texas) and El Reno (Oklahoma) Groups

open access: yesBSGF - Earth Sciences Bulletin, 2022
The youngest Paleozoic vertebrate-bearing continental deposits of North America are Middle Permian (Guadalupian) in age and occur in the Chickasha Formation (El Reno Group) of central Oklahoma and the lithostratigraphically lower San Angelo Formation ...

Multiple injection techniques to stimulate complex fracture networks in coal reservoirs: A case study on gas disaster reduction of subsurface coal mine in southwest China

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
An experimental device for physical simulation of hydraulic fracturing, comprising: a load‐bearing mechanism with multiple interconnected plates that collectively form an sample chamber; a load‐generating mechanisms, with multiple load‐generating mechanisms arranged within the experimental chamber.

Guadalupian (Middle Permian) Conodonts of Sponge-Bearing Limestones from the Margins of the Delaware Basin, West Texas

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2010
The Guadalupian Series (with Roadian, Wordian and Capitanian stages in ascending order) is very suitable for world-wide application as the Middle Permian standard.

Provenance history of a Late Triassic-Jurassic Gondwana margin forearc basin, Murihiku Terrane, North Island, New Zealand: petrographic and geochemical constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The Murihiku Terrane in the North Island was a forearc basin adjacent to a volcanic arc along the eastern margin of Gondwana during the Mesozoic. The rocks that infill the basin are mainly volcaniclastic sandstones and mudstones, often turbiditic, with ...

Middle Permian (Murgabian) fusuline faunas, Torlesse Terrane, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, 1998
Abstract Two disparate fusuline limestone localities are known from Torlesse Supergroup rocks of Canterbury in the South Island of New Zealand. Fossils at one of these localities (J35/fl9, Glenfalloch Stream) are well preserved. New thin‐section study establishes the presence of a low‐diversity foraminiferan fauna dominated by the fusuline Parafusulina

Machine Learning‐Driven Classification and Production Capacity Prediction of Tight Sandstone Reservoirs: A Case Study of the Taiyuan Formation, Ordos Basin

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
On the basis of core and log data, a Bayesian‐Optimized Random Forest model achieved 92.76% accuracy in classifying tight sandstone reservoirs. A gray relational analysis‐derived evaluation index shows > 80% consistency with actual gas zones. ABSTRACT Tight sandstone gas (TSG), an unconventional oil–gas resource, has heterogeneous reservoirs ...

Experimental Investigation of Sensitivity for Coal and Gas Outburst Risk Prediction Indexes in Raw and Tectonic Composite Coal Seams

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A comparative study was conducted on gas desorption laws of raw and tectonic coals. The sensitivity of regional and local outburst prediction indexes was compared. Gas content is more sensitive than gas pressure for composite coal seams. K1 can more accurately predict the outburst danger than Δh2 $\Delta {h}_{2}$ in composite coal seams.

Spatial Variations in Methane Content and Their Main Controlling Factors of the Deep‐Buried Coalbed in the Nalinhe–Hengshan Area, Ordos Basin

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Ash yield is the primary geological factor controlling the spatial variations in the total gas content of the deep‐buried coalbed methane in the Nalinhe‐Hengshan area, Ordos Basin. However, porosity dominates the differential enrichment of the free gas content of the deep‐buried coalbed methane in the Nalinhe‐Hengshan area, Ordos Basin.

Novel Endocranial Data on the Early Therocephalian Lycosuchus vanderrieti Underpin High Character Variability in Early Theriodont Evolution

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2020
Therocephalia is one of the major therapsid clades and ranges from the middle Permian to Middle Triassic. The earliest therocephalians were large-bodied predators whose fossils are common in middle Permian rocks of South Africa, but have received little ...
