Harvard Theological Review, 1949
In 1924 Herzfeld discovered the largest (in size) Middle Persian inscription extant, near the village of Sar Mashhad in the province of Fārs. 2020
In this paper I discuss: a) the different formation of MP bāzūg and bāzā(y), that are evidently cognates; (b) the alternate transcriptions bāzā and bāzāy; and (c) the distribution and the meanings, in the Middle Persian of the Pahlavi Books, of bāzūg and bāzā(y), both simply glossed as ‘arm’ by Nyberg and MacKenzie.
