Voie centrale, PICC-line ou Midline : quel cathéter pour quel patient ? [Central venous catheter, PICC-line or Midline : which catheter for my patient?]

open access: yes, 2022
Midline long peripheral venous catheters are an interesting alternative to central venous catheters and PICC-lines when the placement of a peripheral venous catheter is impossible or when the patient requires prolonged intravenous treatment.

ORAL COMMUNICATION | Incidence and risk factors of Midline catheter-related thrombosis in internal medicine: a prospective observational study

open access: yesItalian Journal of Medicine
Introduction. The use of midline catheters in internal medicine wards is on the rise as an alternative to central venous catheters in patients with poor venous access. However, the incidence of midline-related thrombosis and the associated risk factors

Study on the Safety of Midline Catheters Infusion of 20% Mannitol in Neurocritical Care Patients [PDF]

open access: yesZhongguo quanke yixue
Background 20% mannitol is a hypertonic dehydrating diuretic to relieve brain edema and reduce intracranial pressure. It is one of the common drugs used in patients with severe neurological conditions, and its liquid properties are acidic and hypertonic.

The risk of venous thromboembolism associated with midline catheters compared with peripherally inserted central catheters: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesNursing Open, 2022
Background Both midline catheters (MCs) and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) can cause venous thromboembolism (VTE), but the prevalence associated with each is controversial.

Usefulness of Midline Catheters versus Peripheral Venous Catheters in an Inpatient Unit: A Pilot Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesNursing Reports, 2022
Canalization of vascular accesses is one of the most used techniques in hospitalization units. When talking about peripherally inserted catheters, we can differentiate between peripheral intravenous catheters (PIVC), midline catheters, and long ...

Polydopamine Nanoparticle‐Mediated Precise Near‐Infrared Optical Stimulation for Cognitive Enhancement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polydopamine nanoparticles enable a precise, non‐genetic, and transcranial neuromodulation strategy via near‐infrared photothermal stimulation. By activating TRPV1 channels, this approach specifically enhances hippocampal gamma oscillations, thereby rescuing spatial memory deficits in models of perioperative neurocognitive disorder.

Single‐Dose TACE‐Like Injection of Sustained‐Release Panobinostat/IL‐12 Polymeric Microparticles is Effective in Preclinical Liver Cancer Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel PLGA/PBAE polymer microparticle platform revolutionizes intermediate‐stage liver cancer treatment by co‐delivering panobinostat and IL‐12 via a single TACE‐like injection. This sustained‐release system overcomes tumor immunosuppression, triggers robust innate and adaptive immune responses, and establishes tertiary lymphoid structures ...
