Pediatric Epiglottopexy: A Scoping Review of Indications, Techniques, Outcomes, and Complications

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This scoping review synthesizes the indications, techniques, outcomes, and complications of pediatric epiglottopexy across 24 studies comprising 371 patients from ten countries. Epiglottopexy, most often performed alongside supraglottoplasty, was associated with favorable respiratory and swallowing outcomes, though the evidence base consists ...

Functional Roles of Adenosine A2B and A3 Receptor Subtypes in the Bladder of Male Rats With A2B Receptor Deletion or Bladder Outlet Obstruction

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To investigate the adenosine receptor (AR) mechanism underlying bladder outlet obstruction (BOO)‐related bladder dysfunction, we examined the expression level of AR subtypes in bladder tissues, and the effects of AR subtypes A2B & A3 modulation on bladder activity using male BOO rats, and Dahl rats with A2B receptor deletion. Materials

Mesenchymal stem cells as cellular factories for targeted P2X7 blockade after traumatic brain injury

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
This manuscript presents a novel therapeutic strategy using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) engineered as living drug factories to deliver a P2X7‐blocking nanobody for treatment of ischemic stroke. By combining targeted cellular delivery with sustained local immunomodulation, the approach aims to overcome key limitations of systemic biologic ...

Long peripheral catheter replacement through the guidewire in a patient with arteriovenous fistula and inadvertent catheter placement in a perforator – a case report

open access: yesPielęgniarstwo Chirurgiczne i Angiologiczne
The intravenous therapy planned by the team determines its duration and the type of solutions administered to the vascular access device. In choosing an appropriate vascular access, patients with chronic kidney disease are a special group.

Role of Fetoscopic Airway Evaluation Immediately Preceding EXIT Procedure in Fetuses With Suspected Airway Obstruction

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study describes the role of pre‐EXIT (Ex Utero Intrapartum Treatment) fetoscopic airway evaluation in fetuses with suspected airway obstruction. Methods Single center, retrospective, observational study including fetuses with suspected airway obstruction undergoing fetoscopic airway evaluation prior to EXIT between 2013 and 2025.

PDA‐Engineered 3D‐Printed Polymer–ZrO2 Hybrid Scaffolds Enabling Enhanced Radiopacity, Photothermal Therapy, and Cell Migration Modulation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A multifunctional 3D‐printed polymer–ZrO2 scaffold is developed to provide intrinsic radiopacity, photothermal responsiveness, and surface bioactivity. Reinforcement with ZrO2 enables real‐time x‐ray visibility and mechanical robustness, while a polydopamine coating facilitates near‐infrared‐triggered drug release and modulates cell migration, thereby ...

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.
