Injectable Stimuli‐Responsive Amphiphilic Hydrogel for Rapid Hemostasis, Robust Tissue Adhesion, and Controlled Drug Delivery in Trauma and Surgical Care

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fast‐acting hydrogel seals bleeding wounds as the illustrated injectable, pH‐responsive network rapidly gels in situ to stop hemorrhage, adhere strongly to wet tissue, and release antibiotics in a controlled, pH‐dependent manner. The material withstands high pressures, shows excellent biocompatibility, and degrades safely, offering a versatile platform

Characterization of an Inherited Neurologic Syndrome in Toyger Cats with Forebrain Commissural Malformations, Ventriculomegaly and Interhemispheric Cysts. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BackgroundIn children, frequent congenital malformations with concomitant agenesis of the corpus callosum are diagnosed by neuroimaging in association with other cerebral malformations, including interhemispheric cysts and ventriculomegaly.

Nb2C‐Reinforced Hydrogel Microneedle as Dual ROS‐Scavenging Platform to Promote Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An advanced microneedle patch integrating niobium carbide nanosheets and curcumin is engineered for diabetic wound healing. The system enables dual ROS scavenging and NIR‐enhanced antimicrobial activity, effectively rebalancing the oxidative microenvironment, promoting macrophage repolarization and angiogenesis, and accelerating full‐thickness wound ...

Hypertonic saline versus mannitol for brain relaxation in supratentorial tumor surgery: a prospective randomized trial

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Anesthesiology
Background: Hypertonic saline and mannitol are widely used to improve brain relaxation during supratentorial mass surgeries. Although continuous administration of hypertonic saline is known to reduce intracranial pressure, it has not yet been evaluated ...

Influence of initial fixation position in scene viewing

open access: yes, 2016
During scene perception our eyes generate complex sequences of fixations. Predictors of fixation locations are bottom-up factors like luminance contrast, top-down factors like viewing instruction, and systematic biases like the tendency to place ...

Thermal Processing Creates Water‐Stable PEDOT:PSS Films for Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Instead of using chemical cross–linkers, it is shown that PEDOT:PSS thin films for bioelectronics become water‐stable after a simple heat treatment. The heat treatment is compatible with a range of rigid and elastomeric substrates and films are stable in vivo for >20 days.

Central pattern generator for swimming in Melibe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The nudibranch mollusc Melibe leonina swims by bending from side to side. We have identified a network of neurons that appears to constitute the central pattern generator (CPG) for this locomotor behavior, one of only a few such networks to be described ...

Lateral Ventricle Volume Asymmetry Predicts Midline Shift in Severe Traumatic Brain Injury [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurotrauma, 2015
Midline shift following severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI) detected on computed tomography (CT) scans is an established predictor of poor outcome. We hypothesized that lateral ventricular volume (LVV) asymmetry is an earlier sign of developing asymmetric intracranial pathology than midline shift. This retrospective analysis was performed on data from

Biofilm‐Antagonist Ginger‐Based 3D‐Printable Photoresins for Complex Implant Designs Exhibiting Advanced Multifunctional Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work offers unique Ginger‐based 3D‐printable resins that can print customizable high‐resolution complex designs. The customizable printing backbone of Zingerol prints also mimics various human bones' strength. Acquisition of in‐vivo biocompatibility in rat model with no severe inflammatory response, along with in‐vitro antioxidant and ex‐vivo anti‐
