A Reverse Theorem on the ·-w* Continuity of the Dual Map

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2015
Given a Banach space X, x∈𝖲X, and 𝖩Xx=x*∈𝖲X*:x*x=1, we define the set 𝖩X*x of all x*∈𝖲X* for which there exist two sequences xnn∈N⊆𝖲X∖{x} and xn*n∈N⊆𝖲X* such that xnn∈N converges to x, xn*n∈N has a subnet w*-convergent to x*, and xn*xn=1 for all n∈N.

The cross-tissue metabolic response of abalone (Haliotis midae) to functional hypoxia [PDF]

open access: yesBiology Open, 2018
Functional hypoxia is a stress condition caused by the abalone itself as a result of increased muscle activity, which generally necessitates the employment of anaerobic metabolism if the activity is sustained for prolonged periods.

Possible role of l-carnitine in improvement of metabolic and hepatic changes in hyperuricemic and hyperuricemic-Fructose-supplemented rats. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiol Rep, 2019
Hyperuricemia has detrimental metabolic and hepatic effects. Artificial fructose supplementation worsened such effects, while l‐Carnitine was efficient in ameliorating these hyperuricemia and/or excess fructose‐induced hyperuricemia effects, through its anti‐inflammatory, antisteatotic, and antioxidant properties.

Promotive effects of endophytic rhizobacteria on tiller and root growth in creeping bentgrass during drought stress and post‐stress recovery involving regulation of hormone and sugar metabolism

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 63, Issue 4, Page 2583-2593, July/August 2023., 2023
Abstract Stress‐induced accumulation of ethylene exacerbates drought damages in plants and suppressing stress induction of ethylene may promote plant tolerance to drought stress. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of endophytic bacteria (Paraburkholderia aspalathi) with 1‐aminocyclopropane‐1‐carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase ...

Reasons for not/choosing chemistry: Why advanced level chemistry students in England do/not pursue chemistry undergraduate degrees

open access: yesJournal of Research in Science Teaching, Volume 60, Issue 5, Page 978-1013, May 2023., 2023
Abstract There are international concerns about decreasing rates of chemistry degree enrolment. This article seeks to understand students' reasons for not/choosing to pursue a chemistry degree, drawing on (i) open‐ended survey responses from a sample of 506 students in England aged 21–22 who had studied advanced level (“A level”) chemistry at age 18 ...
