An algorithm for selection of migration candidates

ACM SIGMICRO Newsletter, 1984
The NP-Completeness of the selection problem of vertical migration candidates is shown by reducing it to the NP-complete knapsack problem. Based on approximation algorithms for the latter problem a new algorithm is presented, which takes into account the call relations between functions in a complex system.

Seismic migration algorithms on parallel computers

Proceedings of the third conference on Hypercube concurrent computers and applications -, 1988
Seismic signal processing is computationally intensive and sequential algorithms in use do not exploit the concurrency inherent in data migration techniques. In this paper we study seismic migration algorithms with a view to present a general framework for analyzing such algorithms and propose some coarse-grained paradigms for computation on parallel ...

Monarch Migration Algorithm for optimization problems

2015 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IEEM), 2015
In this work, we intend to formulate a new metaheuristic algorithm, called Monarch Migration Algorithm (MMA), for solving optimization problems. This algorithm is based on the migratory behavior of the monarch butterflies. We validate the proposed algorithm against various unimodal and multi-modal test functions.

Parallel genetic algorithms with schema migration

Proceedings 26th Annual International Computer Software and Applications, 2003
Genetic algorithms (GAs) are efficient non-gradient stochastic search methods. Parallel GAs are proposed to overcome the deficiencies of sequential GAs, such as low speed and aptness to locally converge. However the tremendous communication cost incurred offsets the advantages of parallel GAs.

Extended PGA for range migration algorithms

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2006
The phase gradient autofocus (PGA) algorithm is extended to work for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) spotlight images processed with range migration (w-k) algorithms. Several pre-processing steps are proposed for aligning the range-compressed phase-history data needed for successful autofocusing of the data.

A Forwarding Migration Algorithm for Multipath Transmission

2009 IEEE International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing with Applications, 2009
According to the new features of traffic distribution, a novel forwarding migration algorithm (FMA) is proposed. Programmable routers (PR) are used in FMA. One PR sets FMA bit for unbalanced traffic. Another PR forwards related traffic to the FMA link rather than to wait for matching the longest address prefix.

Improved Algorithms for Data Migration

2006
Our work is motivated by the need to manage data on a collection of storage devices to handle dynamically changing demand. As demand for data changes, the system needs to automatically respond to changes in demand for different data items. The problem of computing a migration plan among the storage devices is called the data migration problem.

Migration of holes: Numerical algorithms and implementation

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2007
A hole created in a system, for instance by ionization, can migrate through the system solely driven by many-electron effects. The implementation of the theory of charge migration and the numerical algorithms used are described in detail. A description of the ab initio calculation of charge migration in realistic systems is presented for several ...

Population migration algorithm for eigenvalue of matrix

2016 12th International Conference on Natural Computation, Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (ICNC-FSKD), 2016
Aiming at the shortcomings of solving eigenvalues and eigenvectors of matrix by using traditional methods, this paper proposes the population migration algorithm based on speed, which can convert solving matrix eigenvalue problem to unconstrained optimization problems, and take a population migration algorithm to solve matrix eigenvalues and ...
